It's about the amount of money you need in order to sustain Your Life, during your Retirement Years.
Kung magre-retire ka nang 60 years old at mabubuhay ka hanggang 80, your Retirement Years = 20. By then you will, most probably, be unemployed (unable to work nor actively participate in your business) and thus, you'll need alternative sources of income to fund the basic expenses of a typical retiree (food, househelp, maintenance medicine, hospitalization, etc.) and of course, to live-out your dreams (travel, re-modeled house, upgraded car/vehicle, regular treat for grandchildren, etc).
Sa food mo pa lang, kulang na ang P1 Million para makakain ka ng 3 times/day (at P50/meal). Isang araw lang na walang pera ang tao, mahirap na diba? Imagine if 20 years kang walang pera kapag retirado ka na.
