Outlook on the market, August 24, 2026

The week of August 24 begins with a more cautious tone across U.S. markets. The S&P 500 finished the previous week lower, while Monday futures pointed to another softer opening, with S&P 500 futures down about 0.2% and Nasdaq futures down roughly 0.5%. Investors are focused on several events at the same time: Nvidia’s earnings on August 26, the July PCE inflation report, Federal Reserve commentary at Jackson Hole, elevated Treasury yields, and continuing geopolitical uncertainty surrounding Iran. The 30-year Treasury yield has recently reached its highest level in almost two decades, increasing pressure on high-valuation technology stocks.

Mid-August market outlook, 2026

The U.S. market is entering the week with a generally constructive tone, although valuations and several extended technical structures deserve attention. The S&P 500 recently reached another record high, while investors have become less concerned about an immediate Federal Reserve rate hike. Reuters reported on August 17 that the probability of a September hike had fallen to roughly 30%, while a Reuters economist poll found that most economists now expect rates to remain unchanged through the end of 2026. At the same time, oil prices and geopolitical risks remain relevant, so the market is not operating without macroeconomic pressure.

Outlook on the market, August 10, 2026

The U.S. market enters the week with a strong bullish bias, but the latest advance has also increased the importance of valuation, resistance levels and incoming economic data. The S&P 500 closed the previous week at a record 7,757.46 after gaining about 3.6%, while technology stocks were among the strongest performers. At the same time, investors are preparing for the July U.S. CPI report, scheduled for Wednesday, August 12. June inflation was 3.5% year over year, with core CPI at 2.6%, making the next report important for both equities and precious metals.

The current market environment therefore remains constructive, but several of the instruments discussed below are approaching important technical levels.

Start of August analysis, 2026

The first trading week of August begins with investors balancing encouraging corporate earnings against persistent macroeconomic uncertainty. The Federal Reserve's cautious stance, geopolitical developments, and continued interest in artificial intelligence remain the dominant themes across global markets. Early trading on August 3 has shown renewed strength in large-cap technology stocks following solid earnings reports, helping improve overall sentiment after a volatile end to July.

End-of-July market analysis, 2026

The final week of July begins with financial markets balancing optimism and caution. Strong corporate earnings, continued investment in artificial intelligence, and resilient economic data have kept U.S. equities near record levels, while investors remain attentive to inflation, interest-rate expectations, and the Federal Reserve's next steps. Technology continues to lead market performance, although several major stocks have shifted from strong advances into consolidation. Precious metals and cryptocurrencies present a more mixed technical picture, making the coming days particularly important for confirming medium-term trends.

Mid-July market outlook, 2026

The financial markets begin this week with investors balancing two main themes: continued strength in technology-related assets and increasing uncertainty from geopolitical developments, inflation expectations, and central bank policy. U.S. equity futures showed a moderate recovery on July 20 after weakness in the previous week, with S&P 500 futures trading higher following a 1.6% weekly decline.

The market environment remains selective. Several major assets are still inside long-term bullish structures, while others are experiencing corrective phases.

Start of July analysis, 2026

The first full trading week of July begins with investors balancing two competing themes. On one hand, softer U.S. employment data has reduced expectations of further monetary tightening, providing support for equities, gold, and cryptocurrencies. On the other, recent strength in the broader market has left several sectors extended, increasing the possibility of short-term consolidation. Market attention now shifts toward the release of the Federal Reserve’s June meeting minutes later this week, which could influence expectations for interest rates during the second half of 2026.

End-of-June market analysis, 2026

The final week of June closes with a noticeably different tone than the optimism seen earlier this quarter. While the broader U.S. economy continues to avoid signs of an immediate slowdown, investors have become more selective. Capital has rotated away from several large semiconductor names and into software, healthcare, and more defensive sectors. At the same time, uncertainty surrounding interest rates and AI infrastructure spending has increased day-to-day volatility.

Against that backdrop, several major markets are approaching important technical levels that could determine whether recent corrections develop into deeper declines or simply become pauses within longer-term trends.

Outlook on the market, June 22, 2026

The new week opens with a cautious tone. U.S. stock futures were broadly flat to slightly lower on Monday, June 22, as traders watched the U.S.-Iran negotiations, oil prices eased, and attention turned to Thursday’s PCE inflation data, which now matters more because the Fed has sounded firmer on inflation control. Reuters also noted that the S&P 500 futures were down 0.1% and that market sentiment remains tied to both policy risk and geopolitical headlines.

Mid-June market outlook, 2026

The market starts this week with a clearly risk-on tone. Reuters and AP both report that U.S. equities rose sharply on Monday after a tentative U.S.-Iran agreement reduced geopolitical stress, eased oil prices, and lowered pressure on rate expectations. In that environment, the S&P 500 has been trading around the 7,500 area, with Yahoo Finance showing an intraday print of 7,516.75 on June 15, while Reuters reported a 1.9% daily gain for the index.
