South Korea developed a patch that regrows teeth — ending dentures forever 🦷
Scientists at Seoul National University have created a microneedle patch that stimulates dormant tooth stem cells to regenerate enamel and even grow entirely new teeth in adult humans. The patch contains a drug called tideglusib combined with growth factors that activate dental stem cells still present in the jaw.
Clinical trials showed remarkable results:

Small cavities completely healed in 4-6 weeks
Chipped teeth regrew enamel within 8 weeks
In 30% of participants, completely new tooth buds began forming
No pain, no drilling, no fillings needed

How it works: The patch is applied to the gum above the damaged tooth for 20 minutes daily. Microneedles pe*****te the gum tissue painlessly, delivering the drug directly to the tooth root where stem cells reside. The drug inhibits a protein (GSK-3) that normally prevents tooth regeneration in adults.
This could revolutionize dentistry:

3.5 billion people suffer from oral diseases
Dental tourism generates $10 billion annually
Dentures and implants cost $10,000-$40,000
Regrown teeth are genetically your own—no rejection risk

South Korea plans to commercialize the patches by 2026, pricing them at around $300 per tooth—a fraction of implant costs. The same technology might work for regrowing bone in other parts of the body.

Naukowcy ze Szpitala Sir Run Run Shaw przy Uniwersytecie Zhejiang opracowali innowacyjny klej kostny Bone-02, który potrafi naprawić złamania w zaledwie 3 minuty.

Klej jest wstrzykiwany bezpośrednio w złamany kość i działa nawet w obecności krwi, co przyspiesza gojenie i zmniejsza ryzyko powikłań. Bone-02 jest także biodegradowalny, więc nie wymaga późniejszego usuwania.

Technologia została zainspirowana zdolnością ostryg do przyczepiania się do wilgotnych powierzchni pod wodą. Wstępne testy kliniczne na ponad 150 pacjentach pokazują, że klej jest bezpieczny, skuteczny i może zrewolucjonizować leczenie złamań.

Scientists may have just cracked the code to melting fat exactly where you want—no surgery, no downtime.

CatapultX team at NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024

It was an intense two days full of challenges, and as participants, we were challenged to design a chemosynthesis-based ecosystem and then use it to create new methods of searching for life in space and to create an Earth-based laboratory on the use of chemosynthesis in industry. Using NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration data and the support of great mentors - of course. From conceptual biological graphics to inorganic chemistry to planetary physics - creativity and technology, that's what we love! Bravo to our international team: Zoe, Aleksander Natan, Alexandra.
It was an amazing event and we are already planning to return next year! We can't wait for more challenges and inspiration!

To były intensywne dwa dni pełne wyzwań, a my jako uczestnicy zmierzyliśmy się z zadaniem zaprojektowania ekosystemu opartego o chemosytnezę, a następnie wykorzystanie go do stworzenia nowych metod poszukiwania życia w kosmosie oraz do stworzenia ziemskiego laboratorium nad wykorzystaniem chemosyntezy w przemyśle. Korzystając z danych NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration i wsparcia świetnych mentorów - oczywiście. Od koncepcyjnej grafiki biologicznej, przez chemię nieorganiczną, po fizykę planetarną – kreatywność i technologia, czyli to co uwielbiamy! Brawo dla naszego międzynarodowego zespołu: Aleksander, Zoe, Natan, Aleksandra.
To była niesamowita impreza, a my już planujemy powrót za rok! Nie możemy się doczekać kolejnych wyzwań i inspiracji!
