The KSE-100 Index witnessed a volatile session, opening on a positive note and reaching an intraday high of 1,279 points before gradually losing ground throughout the day. Selling pressure intensified toward the close, with the index lost 48 points to close at 177,323 points. The ongoing result season kept investor sentiment upbeat; however, rollover-week pressure remained a key overhang and kept the market under pressure.
Selling pressure was witnessed across E&Ps, Cement, Banks, OMCs and IT which collectively contributed negative 498 points to the index. On the stock-specific front, NBP was the major laggard, dragging the index down by 240 points (-6.56%), followed by PPL, which contributed negative 140 points (-2.42%) and PSO shed 91 points (-2.92%).
Overall investor participation slowed with traded volume decreased by 4.8% from the previous trading session, with total traded volume reaching 614.06mn shares. FNEL led the volume chart with 86.1mn shares traded.
