Mobilink Bank is expanding into new business segments, and their branch managers are at the center of that shift. For a team transitioning into a significantly different scope of work, the change brings both opportunity and real pressure. 
 
Green Peak’s two-day Branch Manager Excellence Program in Karachi worked with that reality directly. Salman Sarwar Butt focused on the business side, helping participants develop the skills and mindset to build in a space that is largely new to them. Pakistan’s listed banks posted Rs173 billion in profits in Q1 2026. 
 
On the surface, that looks like stability.  
But the story underneath is more interesting. 
 
Profitability is flat year on year, even as interest rates have declined.  
The sector is no longer coasting on spread income.  
Non-interest income is up 26% YoY.  
Loan books are up 8%. Deposits are up 12%. 
 
That growth isn’t happening automatically.  
It’s being driven by relationship managers who can have better conversations with clients. Branch teams that can identify opportunity, not just process transactions. Frontline leaders who know how to grow a book, not just manage one. 
 
The banks in this data set are not all in the same position. The spread between top performers and the rest is visible across every KPI. ROAE ranges from single digits to over 30%. ADR from 40% to 99%. Coverage ratios from 89% to 135%. 
 
That spread exists for a reason. And it isn’t product.
