3 PILLARS OF HEALTH PROTECTION
Imagine yourself building a firewall for your house. The more pillars you add to it the higher it goes and the more protection you get.
📌Ist Philhealth
Philhealth is a government health insurance program that gives you a basic safety net.Kung member ka ng philhealth at tuloy tuloy kang nagbabayad ng contribution mo maaari kang makakuha ng discount sa doctor's fees, laboratory and diagnostic test, and at the same time mababawasan or pwedeng libre yung room and board mo sa confinement.Hindi man niya babayaran ng buo kahit papaano naman ang philhealth ay kayang bawasan ang out of pocket expenses mo. So bago ka pa man din madischarge sa hospital lumiit na yung babayaran mo.But let's be honest kung ganun kababa yung firewall mo pwedeng masunog pa rin yung bahay mo.
Philhealth alone is not enough.
📌2nd Health Maintenance Organization or HMO -
HMO is a type of health insurance plan that provides healthcare services to members through a network of affiliated doctors, hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. This includes private companies like maxicare, intellicare, philcare, medicard, etc.Kung may HMO ka mas mataas yung pillars of protection na kayang ibigay nito sayo kasi covered ka na sa mga sumusunod
1.Outpatient consultation with their accredited doctors.
2.Kapag magpapa diagnostic procedures ka like cbc, urinalysis, endoscopy, colonoscopy, name it.
Pwedeng hindi ka na mag bayad sa mga accredited clinic nila as long as you have a referral from their doctor and most importantly kapag na confine ka covered na rin yun to a certain limit depende sa plan na kinuha mo. So for example yung plan na kinuha mo gives you P150,000 per illness per year na coverage. Na confine ka,ang bill mo P145k pwede ka nang lumabas na walang babayaran kasi covered na sya ng HMO. So HMO already offers a good insurance benefit for preventive care and standard illnesses.
But let's face it kapag sobrang laki na ng gastos dahil serious illnesses ang nangyari pwedeng ma - MAX OUT yung coverage ng HMO mo.
📌3rd Critical Illness Insurance
This type of health insurance plan can be purchase from a life insurance policy as a stand - alone plan or as a rider to your insurance policy.Alam niyo ba ito yung madalas na ooverlook kasi karamihan sa atin okay na sa Philhealth and HMO.
CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE is a actually THE MOST POWERFUL PILLAR you know why? because the benefits do not go directly to the hospital or to the doctors or the clinics.
This benefit is PAID DIRECTLY TO YOU.Yes,you read it right, for this type of health insurance plan IKAW ang tatanggap ng lump sum cash benefit para ikaw ang magdecide kung saan mo gagamitin ang pera.
Let's say I signed up for critical illness insurance plan na may 10 million coverage and unfortunately knock on wood nagkasakit ako ng invasive cancer and the surgery itself, the diagnostic procedure sobrang mahal na kaya nasagad na yung HMO and Philhealth benefit ko.
Paano na yung treatment procedure?Yung chemotherapy, radiation, tuloy tuloy na meds, follow up check - ups, etc. How am I gonna be able to afford that? Yung 10 Million benefit ko, that will be my treatment and recovery fund.Dahil meron akong malaki laking CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE COVERAGE.
I can use it to pay for ongoing treatment.I can afford medications, check ups, kaya kong mag hire ng caregiver.I can also take a leave from work. At hindi ko kailngan isipin "Naku kailngan ko nang bumalik kaagad sa trabaho kasi wala na akong pera".Kung meron man ako car amortization, house mortgage maitutuloy ko pa rin yun.And if I have kids going to school, I can still send them to school. In other words, having critical illness insurance benefit gives you financial breathing room so that you can focus on your recovery instead of worrying to much kung saan ka hihingi ng tulong para sa pagpapagamot.
Because if our philhealth benefit and HMO coverage are maxed out,we will resort to UTANG,IBENTA ANG MGA ARI A***N OR ITIGIL ANG TREATMENT and we don't want that to happen.
So I hope this message helped clarify THE DIFFERENT PILLARS OF HEALTH PROTECTION that you need and why it is important to build up to the CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE.
