Since Finn, our 3-year-old, joins us in our homeschool Bible reading, we usually start with popular Bible stories then read them directly from the Bible so he can slowly get familiar with the actual text 🤍📖.
“Bakit kaya hindi na lang agad pinalaya ni God yung Israel?”
Yan yung napag-usapan namin while reading Exodus.
We were reading Exodus the other day when something in the passage made us pause.
Across Exodus 7 to 14 there is a repeated line in different moments:
“so that Egypt will know that I am the Lord” (Exodus 7:5, 14:4, 14:18)
“so that Pharaoh will know that I am the Lord” (Exodus 7:17, 8:10, 9:14, 10:2)
“that you may know that I am the Lord”
It appears again and again as the story unfolds.
We also noticed small details like Egyptians who responded to the warning (Exodus 9:20) and a mixed group that went out with Israel (Exodus 12:38).
Reading it slowly made us pause.
We usually see Exodus as a story of rescue.
But the text keeps pointing to something more it is also a story of revelation 🤍
God was not only bringing Israel out of Egypt. He was also revealing Himself to Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to His people.
Sometimes what we call delay is not empty.
It is not absence.
It is God revealing who He is in ways we don’t always recognize right away 🤍✨.
