The Philippines tries to copy Silicon Valley (or other more mature startup ecosystems) even though our context is very different. We need to reimagine what success looks like for our country and culture, not assuming the "Silicon Valley" way is the right way for startup entrepreneurship.

It can also be tempting as a founder/entrepreneur to chase metrics like capital raised, PR, social media, titles, getting accepted into prominent accelerators, etc. while not spending enough energy on the fundamentals of your business: selling a quality product to real customers and building a great team.

We held our first DB Open Table this morning.

A room full of Filipino entrepreneurs. No slides. No panels. Just honest conversation.
