Mentoring the next generation of leaders is more than teaching them how to lead—it’s helping them learn how to lead leaders.

True leadership is about building people who can think, decide, inspire, and eventually develop others on their own. It’s about giving them the confidence to step up, take ownership, and create impact beyond themselves.

Proud of the growth I’m seeing, and even more excited for the day I see each of you leading your own teams, developing your own people, and raising the next generation of leaders after you.

Keep growing. Keep leading. Your time is coming. 💪🔥

One of the most powerful lessons from Simon Sinek:

As you gain seniority, people start treating you differently.

Doors are opened for you.
You’re given better seats.
People become more attentive.
And instead of a styrofoam cup, you’re handed the ceramic one.

But here’s what every leader needs to remember:

The ceramic cup was never meant for you.
It was meant for the position you hold.

Without the title, the rank, or the recognition, we’re still the same person who deserves the styrofoam cup.

And that’s where humility comes in.

As you rise, don’t confuse privilege with personal importance.

Titles can change. Positions can disappear. Recognition can move to someone else.

But your character stays with you.

So when people start treating you like you’re important, don’t ask, “How can I enjoy this privilege?”

Ask instead:

“Now that I have influence, how can I use it to make things better for the people around me?”

That’s leadership.

Keep the ceramic cup if it comes.
But never forget that you’re still okay with the styrofoam one. ☕️

Stay humble. Stay grounded. Keep serving.

THE LAW OF ADDITION: Leaders add value by serving others.

One of the lessons I shared while mentoring our Next Gen Leaders is that leadership is never just about getting people to follow you.

It’s about making people better because you chose to lead them.

John Maxwell’s Law of Addition reminds us:

1. Truly value others. People know when you genuinely care.
2. Make yourself more valuable to others. Keep growing so you have more to give.
3. Value what others value. Leadership is not always about what matters to you—learn what matters to them.
4. Value what God values. At the end of the day, leadership is stewardship. We are given influence so we can use it to serve and lift others.

This is the kind of leadership I want our Next Gen Leaders to carry forward—not leadership built on titles, but leadership built on service, growth, and genuine care for people.

Because the real question is not, “How many people are following me?”

It’s “How many people are becoming better because I’m leading them?”

Great mentoring session, meaningful conversations, and then we capped it off with a few cocktails. 🍸🥂

Leadership isn’t always about being happy. Sometimes, it’s about finding meaning in what you do.

I recently came across Emily Esfahani Smith’s idea about the Four Pillars of Meaning: Belonging, Purpose, Transcendence, and Storytelling.

And the more I reflected on it, the more I realized how deeply these four pillars connect with leadership.

Belonging — People need to feel that they matter.
Great leadership is not just about seeing performance. It is about seeing the person behind the numbers—their potential, struggles, and dreams.

Purpose — Leadership becomes more meaningful when we stop asking, “How far can I go?” and start asking, “How many people can I help grow?”

Transcendence — Leadership reminds us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Titles, achievements, and recognition will eventually fade, but the lives we influence can carry our impact forward.

Storytelling — Every leader has a story. Rejections. Failures. Wrong decisions. Difficult seasons. Those chapters do not have to define us. They can develop us.

Leadership can be difficult. It can be uncomfortable, exhausting, and sometimes even lonely.

But when you know who you are doing it for, why you are doing it, and what kind of impact you want to leave behind, even the difficult seasons become meaningful.

Happiness comes and goes. Meaning gives us a reason to keep going.

Maybe one of the greatest privileges of leadership is this:

To live a meaningful life by helping others build meaningful lives, too.

Every 1-on-1 mentoring session brings me back to a version of myself I will never forget.

The younger me who was still trying to understand leadership.
The one who had questions, doubts, mistakes, and so much to learn.

I remember being in rooms where I was the one listening. I remember receiving guidance, correction, encouragement, and sometimes even hard truths that I did not fully understand at the time.

Looking back, those moments shaped me more than I realized.

And now, whenever I sit down with an emerging leader, I am reminded of why I chose this path in the first place.

Leadership was never meant to be just about a position, a title, or being the person in front.

For me, it became about people.

About seeing potential before someone fully sees it in themselves.
About having conversations that can change direction.
About believing in someone long enough until they begin to believe in themselves too.

There is something deeply fulfilling about realizing that I was once the one being guided, and now I have the privilege of becoming part of someone else’s leadership journey.

I am still learning.
I am still being stretched.
I am still becoming the leader I know I can be.

But maybe that is also the beauty of leadership.

You do not have to be finished before you can help someone move forward. You simply have to be willing to share what you have learned, walk with people, and keep growing together.

These mentoring sessions remind me that leadership is not only about how far I can go.

It is also about how many people I can help rise along the way.

And as we continue developing our Next Gen Leaders, I am happy to welcome Jerome, our newest Next Gen Leader.

Welcome to the journey, Jerome.

There will be challenges, lessons, pressure, growth, and moments that will test you—but I hope you will always remember that leadership is one of the most meaningful journeys you can choose.

Your story is just beginning.
