We can all build our own wealth! Yes! Yes! Yes!

A powerful story of a Filipino turning hardship into wealth is that of Edgar "Injap" Sia II, the founder of Mang Inasal. Growing up in Iloilo, Injap faced financial struggles, and his family was not wealthy. Despite this, he worked hard to pay his way through college and later realized his passion for business. In 2003, he took a risk and started Mang Inasal, a fast-food chain that specialized in chicken inasal (grilled chicken). With limited capital and a clear focus on providing high-quality, affordable food, he built the brand from the ground up.

His journey was not without challenges, but Injap remained persistent. In just a few years, Mang Inasal grew from a single branch to over 300 nationwide. Eventually, in 2010, he sold Mang Inasal to Jollibee Foods Corporation for PHP 3 billion. With his newfound wealth, he ventured into real estate, co-founding DoubleDragon Properties, which has since become one of the leading property development companies in the Philippines.

"Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan sa pag-abot ng tagumpay; ito'y nagsisilbing lakas upang mangarap ng mas mataas."

Cecilio Pedro's journey from poverty to success is a testament to resilience and determination. Growing up in a struggling family in Pangasinan, he worked odd jobs to support his education but had to drop out of college due to financial difficulties. In the 1980s, he embarked on a small business selling cleaning products, facing numerous challenges such as lack of capital and fierce competition. Despite these obstacles, he founded the Lamoiyan Corporation in 1993, which produced affordable and high-quality products like Hapee Toothpaste. Under his leadership, the company became a leading manufacturer in the Philippines, successfully competing with multinational brands. Beyond financial success, Cecilio has been a committed social entrepreneur, providing jobs and supporting community initiatives, inspiring many with his story of triumph over adversity.

In the wake of disaster or calamity, financial and health protection often become lifelines for individuals and families. Imagine a community struck by a powerful typhoon. Homes are damaged, access to clean water is limited, and the electricity grid is down, creating uncertainty and stress for residents. Families with health and financial protection plans fare significantly better, even in these difficult circumstances.

For one family, the typhoon was devastating, tearing off the roof and flooding their home. But, because they had insurance for their property and belongings, they were able to file a claim, which provided funds to begin rebuilding. Furthermore, their health protection plan covered medical treatment for an injury sustained during evacuation, alleviating the financial burden of unexpected medical bills. Another family in the same neighborhood, without such protections, faced overwhelming challenges—without resources to replace their belongings or cover emergency medical expenses, their recovery would be slower and fraught with financial uncertainty.
