UPDATE (11:34AM Sept 1): As of 12:10AM Sept 1 PHIVOLCS has lifted the Tsunami warning.

BREAKING STORY: A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Samar around 8:45PM on Friday night, according to the USGS. The image below shows the epicenter of the quake.

Phivolcs says Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Samar are still under TSUNAMI ALERT LEVEL 3 as of 11:45PM, despite the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center lifting its own tsunami warning for the Philippines, Indonesia, and Palau around 11:00PM.

Residents of coastal areas fronting the Pacific Ocean have been advised to evacuate. Government agencies asks citizens to remain alert for further advisories.
