For April 2026, the average residential electricity rate increased to ₱12.2463 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up by ₱0.8356/kWh from the March 2026 rate of ₱11.4107/kWh.

This increase is mainly due to higher power supply costs and increased transmission-related charges affecting consumers in the Visayas.

Why did the rate increase?

1. Higher cost of electricity supply (generation)
• Prices from the electricity market (WESM) increased.
• This was due to the unexpected shutdown of some power plants, resulting in reduced electricity supply.
• When supply is low—especially during peak hours—prices tend to rise.
• Additionally, supply from another power provider resumed, which, combined with higher market prices, contributed to the overall increase.

2. Increase in transmission charges
• Fees for maintaining and stabilizing the power grid (ancillary services) also increased.
• This resulted in a slight increase in the overall bill.

Summary of Rates (April 2026)
Residential: ₱12.2463/kWh
Low Voltage: ₱12.5389/kWh
High Voltage: ₱11.1646/kWh

These changes are driven by market conditions and industry-related charges that impact all electricity consumers.

Negros Power does not set these costs, as they are pass-through charges based on supply conditions and grid-related expenses. The company remains committed to keeping consumers informed about electricity rate movements.

Ginaipabalo sang Negros Power sa publiko nga ang average residential electricity rate para sa Marso 2026 amo ang ₱11.4107/kWh, nga nagpakita sang gamay nga pagnubo nga ₱0.0335/kWh kumpara sa rate sang Pebrero nga ₱11.4442/kWh.

Power Supply Cost

1. Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)
Ang presyo sang kuryente halin sa WESM nagsaka halin ₱4.4872/kWh pakadto ₱5.4034/kWh, ukon nagpakita sang pagsaka nga ₱0.9162/kWh.

Ini nga pagsaka ginhalinan sang 17 ka adlaw nga wala ginpaabot nga outage sang Palm Concepcion Power Corp., nga nagresulta sa pagkakulang sang supply sang kuryente sa Visayas Grid kag nagpasaka sang presyo sa merkado, labi na gid sa oras sang peak demand.

2. Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI)
Ang rate sang GCGI nagsaka man halin ₱6.1424/kWh pakadto ₱6.5265/kWh, ukon nagpakita sang pagsaka nga ₱0.3851/kWh.

Ini bangod natapos na ang isa ka tuig nga temporary baseload discount nga ginahatag sang power supplier.

Bangod sini nga mga pagtaas sa WESM kag GCGI, ang overall generation charge nagpakita sang pagsaka nga ₱0.2015/kWh.

Transmission Charges

Ang NGCP Power Delivery Service (PDS) charge nagsaka halin ₱282.5288/kW pakadto ₱305.5274/kW, ukon nagpakita sang pagsaka nga ₱22.9986/kW.

Sa pihak nga bahin, ang Ancillary Service charges (lakip ang reserve market) nagnubo halin ₱667.35/kW pakadto ₱501.09/kW, ukon nagpakita sang pagnubo nga ₱166.26/kW.

Bangod sini nga mga pagbag-o, ang overall transmission charges nagpakita sang gamay nga pagnubo nga average ₱0.2054/kWh para sa tanan nga consumer classes.

Iban nga Rate Adjustments

Ginpatuman man ang uniform implementing rules sang lifeline rate subsidy, nga nagaabot sa ₱0.01/kWh.

Sa kabug-osan, ang pagnubo sang transmission kag iban nga pass-through charges nakabulig magbalanse sa pagsaka sang generation cost, nga ginhalinan sang mas mataas nga presyo sa WESM kag adjustment sa GCGI. Bangod sini, nagresulta ini sa gamay nga pagnubo sang electricity rates para sa Marso 2026.

Good morning po.

Negros Power customers will benefit from a substantial decrease in electricity rates this February.

The average residential rate dropped to ₱11.44 per kWh, down by ₱1.66 per kWh from January’s ₱13.10 per kWh. This is a significant reduction that will be reflected in consumers’ February billing.

Consumers with an average monthly consumption of 200 kWh will save 322 pesos of their budget for this month.

The major driver of this decrease is the sharp drop in generation costs, particularly from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). WESM rates fell dramatically from ₱7.5031/kWh to ₱4.4872/kWh — a huge reduction of ₱3.0160/kWh — following the normalization and synchronization of power plants in the Visayas Grid, which improved supply conditions and lowered market prices.

In addition, the rate from Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) decreased by ₱0.3136/kWh, primarily due to the adjustment from the previous month’s billing and the implementation of its new 2026 base rate.

Combined, these adjustments resulted in a ₱1.4199 per kWh reduction in the overall generation charge, which more than offset minor increases in transmission and other pass-through charges.

While there was a slight increase in the NGCP transmission charge and the Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification (UCME), their impact was minimal compared to the substantial drop in generation costs.

Other February 2026 average rates are as follows:
• Low Voltage (LV): ₱11.50/kWh
• High Voltage (HV): ₱10.41/kWh
