šæ A New Chapter šæ
When I became a mum of my youngest daughter now 3, I retrained as a mortgage adviser because I wanted a career that offered flexibility around family life. In those early days, I was often up through the night with a newborn and, in the same hours, studying, learning, and building experience. It wasnāt easy managing sleepless nights and solo parenting, but it gave me resilience and a deep empathy for other families navigating big financial decisions.
Over the past few years Iāve learned so much in this industry, and Iāve been blessed to work alongside supportive people at different points in my journey. Most recently, Iāve returned as self-employed with Vega, who have been extremely supportive, but the nature of self-employment doesnāt currently meet my financial needs as a solo parent.
So, for now, Iāll be stepping away from my career as a mortgage adviser and moving back into part time employment. Itās a bittersweet decision ā I love this work and the clients Iāve served, but my priority is providing stability for my family.
This journey has shown me how important it is to have genuine support for parents, especially women, in balancing professional and family commitments. Itās a conversation I care deeply about and hope to contribute to more in the future.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way ā clients, colleagues, mentors, and friends. š
Hereās to new beginnings, and to finding opportunities where family and career can thrive together.
