Every step mattered.

From Motutapu to the Coromandel Peninsula, relocating kiwi takes planning, patience, and precision.

Ferry crossings. Careful handling. Calm, quiet journeys by road.

Alongside Save the Kiwi and their partners, our role was simple: help make sure each bird arrived safely.

A small part in a much bigger effort — but one we’re incredibly proud of.

Not your average carpool!

Last week, our team partnered with Save the Kiwi to help relocate kiwi from Motutapu to the Coromandel Peninsula.

Ferry → car → careful hands → safe arrival.

A huge shoutout to our team who stepped out of the day job to become Kiwi Couriers for the day, all to help protect one of New Zealand’s most iconic species.

This is what making it matter looks like.

Sorting out kerbside recycling is not an easy job and the team put in the hard mahi all year round. Let's all do our bit to keep them safe.

🗡️ Nothing sharp, pointy or broken kerbside. If it can puncture the bag, it can puncture skin.
🧴 Shake, shake, shake rinse your bottles thoroughly. Nobody wants an eyeful.

Ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it leaves the kerb? Ari and Hugo find out this recycling week ♻️

Confused by what size rubbish bag you can put out for kerbside collection? 😕

Our main man Rameka from Enviro NZ gives his top three tips:

👉Bags must be no bigger than 60 litres.
👉An orange sticker must be on every rubbish bag, unless it is a yellow Enviro NZ prepaid bag.
👉Have your bags and recycling out kerbside by 7.30am.

The team service about 18,000 properties a week - that’s a minimum of 3,000 bags they’re lifting and throwing into a truck every day. It's hard mahi in this heat. Let’s keep them safe from injuries.

Thanks for your understanding Taupō rohe!

New year, new truck, new slick moves. Same rubbish, same rules.

✅Black 60l bag with a sticker or a yellow pre-paid Enviro NZ bag.

✅Keep the bags as close to the kerb as possible. Don’t want a miss a bag hiding behind a power pole or streetlight.

✅Wrap up any sharp items because if it can pierce a bag, it can pierce the skin.

✅No batteries – they can make rubbish trucks explode. Drop off them off for free at the landfill.

We’re proud to share something special.

Enviro NZ is officially partnering with Save the Kiwi to support their national Kōhanga kiwi programme. The sponsorship sees us supporting the safe movement of kiwi through the charity’s national Kōhanga Kiwi programme, where predator-free kōhanga sites are established so kiwi can breed in safety. The Enviro NZ Kiwi on the Move programme will help transfer kiwi from kōhanga sites to predator-controlled habitats across Aotearoa, boosting the kiwi populations, where they’ve been absent for generations.

Since 2022, more than 600 kiwi have already been successfully transferred to new homes around the country, with more planned in the months ahead.

Kiwi are a taonga of Aotearoa. Supporting their return is about strengthening ecosystems, backing community and iwi-led conservation, and helping ensure future generations can hear kiwi in the wild.

We’re honored to play a part in this important mahi.

Together, we’re moving what matters.

Making it matter in the Hutt Valley

Last week, members of the Enviro NZ team joined more than 20 local volunteers for a community clean-up in the Hutt Valley. In just 1.5 hours, the group removed 400kg of litter from the area.
It’s a simple reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, small actions add up to something meaningful. For us, it’s part of what making it matter looks like — showing up, working alongside the community, and helping keep the places we all live and work clean.

It was also great to see the next generation getting involved. A special shout-out to young Kayne, who brought plenty of energy to the effort.

A big thank you to everyone who gave their time and represented Enviro NZ so well. Days like this show the difference we can make together.

We’re proud to once again support ARISE Church with their Big Hearts @ Christmas 🎄 initiative — helping pack and distribute boxes of essentials 📦for local families doing it tough.

To help the day run smoothly, our team supplied a large recycling cage and a soft plastics cage free of charge, ensuring all leftover materials from the packing were responsibly recycled.

It’s a small way we can back a big effort, and we’re grateful to play a part in a community kaupapa that brings people together at such an important time of year.

A huge thank you to the Arise team and volunteers for the incredible mahi. 👏🙏

Stronger communities start with small acts of support — this is how we make it matter.

Never in the bin!

Used batteries might look harmless, but they’re a real fire risk if they end up in kerbside bins or collection trucks.

Here’s how to handle them safely:
👉 Keep used batteries cool and dry
👉 Store them in a safe place (like a jar or box)
👉 Once you’ve collected a few, drop them off at your local collection point

Every battery kept out of the bin helps keep our people and communities safe.

Minutes to use. Decades to waste.

That quick coffee run? It might seem harmless, but most takeaway cups can’t be recycled, and they’ll stick around in landfill for decades.

This Recycling Week, choose to reuse:
👉 Bring your own cup
👉 Grab a mug from the office
👉 Dine in when you can

Small changes, big difference. Let’s make looking after the environment a little easier, one coffee at a time.
