So I ran the numbers using a real New Plymouth property, the actual rental appraisal, historical Taranaki data and a fair alternative for the renter investing both the deposit and the weekly savings.

Banks don’t assess you at the rate you’re offered…
they test you higher.

Even a small change to that test rate can swing your borrowing power massively.

I’ve seen it: – Same income
– Same deal
– Different test rate
= completely different outcome

If you’re close to buying, this stuff matters way more than people realise.
