Interest rates are beginning to rise again
For many men, looking after the family means trying to make the “right” financial decision every time. But when interest rates start changing, the right answer is not always obvious.
In July, the Reserve Bank increased the OCR from 2.25% to 2.50%. However, mortgage rates do not necessarily move immediately or by the same amount. Banks consider wholesale funding costs, market conditions and their own lending strategies when setting rates.
That means one bank, rate or fixed term may not suit every household.
If your mortgage is approaching its refix date, consider:
🏡 What repayments can your family comfortably afford?
🏡 Are any major life changes coming?
🏡 How important is repayment certainty?
🏡 Would you benefit from keeping some flexibility?
Being financially responsible does not mean predicting the market perfectly. It means understanding your options and choosing a structure that supports the life you are building.
