If you're not from a farming background, you may be wondering why there are stock trucks, moving trucks, and busy rural roads on 1 June!

Gypsy Day marks the start of the new dairy season in New Zealand and is traditionally the day many farming families move farms, start new roles, and begin a new chapter.

For those involved, it's more than just moving day. It's a fresh start, a chance to set new goals, embrace new opportunities, and work towards achieving great things in the season ahead.

Whether you're moving farms, stepping into a new role, or continuing on your current journey, here's to a successful season, achieving your goals, and making the most of the opportunities ahead.

I often see people worrying about small debts like credit cards or personal loans, thinking they need to be completely cleared before applying.

In reality, if your income supports it and everything still fits comfortably within affordability, it can still be absolutely fine.

For example, someone might have a credit card balance or BNPL account, but if their overall position is strong, it doesn’t necessarily stop things progressing.

It’s always about the full picture, not one single item.

KSM has recently joined Federated Farmers of New Zealand as a Supporter Member

With so many of my clients being sharemilkers, contract milkers, and farm staff, it is important to stay connected to the industry.

Federated Farmers play a huge role in advocating for farmers, being a strong voice on the issues that matter and pushing for real change, while also providing practical tools like contracts, agreements, and updates that genuinely help day to day.

A great example of this is the progress that has been made around KiwiSaver for the rural sector, something that was not always straightforward for many people in the industry. Their advocacy has helped get positive change across the line.

For me, it is about staying informed, giving back, and making sure I can support my clients properly, especially when it comes to getting into their first home or investment property.
