The Dream Catcher Nepal Foundation

The Dream Catcher Nepal Foundation The foundation works with Gita in Nepal to help women support themsalfs economicly and mentaly. Namaste! And she does all this with very little means.

The founder is David Woont
https://corehemp.com/pages/dream-catcher-nepal-foundation Anyone who knows me knows I have the utmost respect and awe for the people of Nepal. Although I have encountered many friendly people throughout my travels, the Nepali
people are by far some of the kindest people I have ever met. The Dream Catcher Nepal Foundation is my way of giving back to the people of Nepal:

I know that all they want to do is give and I want to help them do so. Gita is one of the local Nepalese women who I have been blessed to have met. Gita is constantly helping struggling women in her area,
bringing food to new moms, helping women get away from violent relationships, even going as far as to house women who have run away and have nowhere to go. Through the Dream Catcher Nepal Foundation We will help more amazing people like Gita
to be able to continue their amazing work. Most other foundations like this send money through a third person who takes part of the
contributions; what is unique about my foundation is that I will be personally traveling to Nepal
and making sure the money gets into the right hands. I hope you will be able to partner with me in adding more light into this world.

NORI
Nori is a 54 years old woman, living in Chipchipani, which is a small village in Sarankot, next to Pokhara. She came from a very poor family in Chitwan, and so as her husband. He used to beat her a lot, also when she was pregnant, and four of her embryos died. The fifth time Nori finally gave birth and had a son, but yet the relationship with her husband was bad.
When their son was 5 years old, the husband married a second wife. Nori and her family lived with them. The new wife and her family didn't like Nori, so the husband left her and their son, and moved them away from the house.
Nori took her son to her family in Chitwan. After few years she understood that it is not possible for them to live all together because they don't have enough money and place for everybody. She decided to leave back to Pokhara area, and so she arrived to Chipchipani. There she met a kind teacher that took her and her son into his family house. After six years he helped her to get her own place at the neighbor's land for free until they come back (they moved out from Nepal). They built a mud house together for Nori and her son, and he organized electricity from his house.
Nori works in the field, every time for a different house, and receive rice or enough money for 2 days food. Her son went to Pokhara 8-10 years ago to work, came back few times to visit. For the last six years he didn’t come to visit, and Nori doesn’t have his contact.
Nori has one female buffalo she doesn't succeed to sell for long time, but yet she is taking care for the buffalo for food and time in the field.
For start The foundation gave Nori money for food for a month ahead and bought her few clothes and a pair of shoes. After few months the foundation gave her money for buying two goats - male and female (this is what she asked for). Gita will keep visit her to make sure she's ok and happy.. Lets all take one second and really wish her from the heart good and peacfull time :)

Santi
24 years old woman, with 2 kids, 5 and 9 years old. like Gita she doesn't have an education certificate so its hard for her to find a job. her family is very poor, leaving in rent in a village far away from Pokhara (2 days driving). for 9 years she used to work at rich people house in Kathmandu for food and a bed (no salary), when she was 16 years old she met her husband, who also come from a difficult life and all his family died so he has only santi and the boys. he works as a driver and they leave in a small stone room that the owner of the land kindly let them stay without paying rent. the children's school is paid by a western foundation. after a while, her husband started to drink a lot, to beat here (i saw the signs..). she tried to run away with Gita's help 2 times, one time to Kathmandu and the second time she went to her parents, but she felt bad there because her parents don't have much to take care of her and the children. in both of the times her husband found them and brought them back to Pokhara to him.
The foundation gave her money to help her start making a stand in the lakeside (the most touristic place in Pokhara) of water, ciggarete and chatpat (traditional Nepali street snack from dried rice and vegetebles).
Now, for almost a month she is standing every day in the park next to her house, and in the evening she's in the lakeside. she made in average 800 rupi per day! enough for food, for buying stuff for making more Chatpat and for saving on the side. I went to see her almost every day for 2 weeks, she seems happy! I saw her husband 2 times. he seems calm and ok with himself that she's working at that stand, not like the other jobs that he didn't want her to go (she tried to work as a cleaner). Gita is going to see her almost every day to make sure she's ok and doesn't get hurt by him again. if he takes ciggarets from her stand she forces him to pay to not involve her business with his needs, and he agree to pay! Me and Gita felt good vibes between them, and there were no bitting and no hard fightings since then! (maybe because now she "safety wall" - he sees Gita all the time, he knows Gita's relations with people in the lakeside-where they leave, and he saw me with her-means for him "western institution" is involve and taking care of her. maybe because she stopped asking him for money he doesn't have any anger to release.. Anyhow she rolled herself to a better life trail and she is able now to take care of her familly and hersalf while enjoying her activity. The stand is very close to her home so her children can be with her while she's working, and she has a meaningful and plesent activity during the days.

SO WHO IS GITA AND WHAT'S HER STORY?
Gita is 37 years old , she has 2 boys, one is Soruj, 18 years old living with her and Sopol, 14 years old living with his father's family in her childhood village.
When Gita was 9 months old and Ramus, her older brother was 9 their mother passed away. Ramus moved between families until he ran away from the village when he was 13. The neighboors took care of Gita but as a different child (she slept in a different place, got different clothes and ate only the cheap food..) when she was 13 Ramus took her to Pokhara and since then they taking care of each other.
She new her husband from the village and they got married when she was 16, they lived together few happy years in the village.
When she was 28 (and her boys were 7 and 1-year-old baby) her husband ran away to work in Malesia for 3 years, he left her with no money to feed herself and the children.she had no family to support her (her mother passed away and her father was drunk all day) so Ramus took her back to Pokhara, although he had also hard time with money... she barely had money for food, she picked what she could from Nature, tried to pick warm clothes from whoever she could, and collected all the money she succeeded to pay for Soruj school..
after 3 years of struggle to survive Her husband came back, when he is married with a nepali girl he met in Malesia (Its allowed by law for man to marry more then 1 woman in Nepal) and wanted Gita back. ofcourse she didnt want any relation to him so they came back to his family house where Sopol, thei're little sun live and Gita stayed in Pokhara.
When I met Gita she rent and ran a little guesthouse where I stayed "Dreamcather guest house". next to her,Ramus -her brother- was also running even bigger guesthouse. after the earthquake both of the buildings broke and they didn't have money for fixing and continue to pay rent and food.. so both of them moved to a homestay where they live now.
Gita has sharp mind and life wisdom, she's thinking widely and have good sense for people. she easily makes people speak what they have in their heart and have good practical ideas how to make things better. until now David helped her with what he could, so many "close projects" (food, money, wifi, computer, kitchen tools, computer work for Soruj) , i helped with what i could and so as other travellers who felt connected to this woman. And so as Gita, helped me, David, and so many other travellers and nepali women she meets in the street just because she brave enough to speak, ask and offer her help. she has a big heart and knowledge how to get along and she knows how is it to be in a stuck situation in life and how to survive anyway..

so Gita, as her job is running this foundation in Nepal. each woman that we help enters the Dreamcatcher family, and we keep to take care that she's doing well and take smart decisions consider her business and her expanses. as part of Gita's job is to visit those girls, give them advises and update us.
