The Nepal-China Business Summit, held in Beijing, China, on December 4, 2024, was a success in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The event was jointly organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and the Embassy of Nepal in China.
With the participation of 120 Chinese entrepreneurs, Mr. Manoj Paudel, Chair of FNCCI’s Investment and International Affairs Forum, presented on Nepal’s Trade and Investment Opportunities. He highlighted Nepal’s initiatives to improve the business and investment environment over the past years.
Mr. Paudel emphasized the active functioning of the FDI Helpdesk at FNCCI, which is dedicated to facilitating foreign investors in navigating Nepal’s investment landscape on behalf of the private sector. The amendment of eight investment laws, formation of the High-Level Economic Reform Commission, and the drafting of a Bilateral Investment Agreement, were also highlighted as milestones in Nepal’s investment scenario.
From humble beginnings to economic progress, Nepal has significantly improved its per capita income and achieved an impressive recent credit rating. He noted that opportunities abound in hydropower, tourism infrastructure, manufacturing, and services. Nepal’s abundant natural resources, youthful workforce, and strategic geographical position are key attractions for foreign investment.
