πŸ“– UPDATE RE TAXES- Budget for F.Y. 2082/83:

πŸ’³ The government has announced that startup businesses with financial transactions of up to Rs 100 million will not be subject to income tax for 5 years.

πŸ’³ The government has adopted a policy of providing electricity tariff and income tax exemptions to information technology and hotels. It has announced that it will provide a 75 percent exemption on income generated from exporting services from information technology, saying that it has made arrangements to provide exemptions similar to special industries.

πŸ’³ A person living in Nepal who sells information technology services abroad will be taxed at only 5 percent & this tax would be a final withholding payment.

πŸ’³ The government has maintained the customs duties and other taxes imposed on electric vehicles.

πŸ’³ An increment in tax rates on to***co products and alcohol is announced too.

πŸ’³ VAT, excise duty and income tax laws will be amended.

πŸ’³ This budget has announced that there will be study of possibility of imposing multiple rates on VAT. Also, the information technology-based industries and hotels will be given income tax exemptions.

πŸ’³ Only 1 percent customs duty on imports for football, cricket and stadiums.

πŸŽ’ Under the National Educational Reform Program, capital grants will be provided for the construction of physical infrastructure for schools with more than 1,500 students in the Terai-Madhesh region, 1,000 in the hills, and 500 in the Himalayas.

πŸ’° The construction work of the under-construction model schools will be completed. Rs 2.72 billion has been allocated for this.
