I am delighted and honoured to have been invited by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) to serve as a Panelist at the OGTAN Human Capacity Development (HCD) Conference 2026, holding from 19–21 August 2026 at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.
The conference, themed:
“Empowering People. Driving Performance. Shaping the Future of Oil & Gas,”
will bring together leaders and stakeholders from regulatory institutions, operating companies, indigenous and international oil and gas companies, academia, training organisations and the wider Nigerian oil and gas industry.
I will be contributing to Panel 6: “Funding HCD — The Money Question”, scheduled for Friday, 21 August.
The conversation will examine an important question for the future of our industry:
Who funds Human Capacity Development, how should the funding reach businesses and training providers, and how do we ensure that such investments translate into measurable skills, stronger indigenous enterprises, sustainable jobs and improved industry performance?
I am particularly delighted that my contribution will draw from my experience in Enterprise Development, Business Linkages, Access to Finance and Human Capacity Development, including years of working within the Niger Delta enterprise-development ecosystem.
I look forward to sharing perspectives on how we can move beyond simply funding training to building a more effective ecosystem that connects:
Funding → Capability → Enterprise Growth → Industry Opportunities → Sustainable Economic Impact.
I will be joining other distinguished panelists from PTDF, NCDMB/NCDF, NEXIM Bank and the private sector, under the moderation of Engr. Chika Chinwah, Port Harcourt Zone Chairman, OGTAN.
For me, one important thought going into this conversation is:
«Human Capacity Development should not merely be treated as an expenditure. It should be treated as an investment whose returns must be seen in stronger competencies, competitive indigenous enterprises, jobs, productivity and greater Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry.»
I am grateful to OGTAN for the confidence and opportunity to contribute to this important national industry conversation.
