How does insurance come in addressing Building Collapse in Nigeria?...... Submission of NCRIB President, Dr. (Mrs.) Bola Onigbogi, FCIB at the

Insurance is simply a risk mitigation device that reduces liability of the insured when a loss occurs. Though it may not be able to prevent building collapse per se, but it will reduce the liability at the aftermath of such collapse.
As it is, we have such policies like Er****on All Risks, which takes care of liability that may arise in the course of building or construction; Contractors All Risks and Fire Policies that builders could take advantage of.
The point must be made that many builders are not even aware of these policies or how to take advantage of them because they did not avail themselves the use of services of Registered Insurance Brokers whose duties are to explain the nitty gritty of insurance benefits to clients, be they corporate, or individual clients.

How can major stakeholders collaborate to make insurance part of the solution?
This is quite thoughtful. Our Council would be very disposed to forge collaborative relationship with stakeholders in the built environment. I mean the Nigerian Institute of Architects; the Nigerian Institute of Building; Nigerian Institution of Quantity Surveyors; the Fire Service, the Police; the Association of Estate Developers, etc.
This initiative would bring all relevant stakeholders on the same page and make unethical activities of quacks, leading to building collapse almost impossible in the country.

NCRIB NAMES TOPE ADARAMOLA EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
The Governing Board of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has endorsed the appointment of Mr. Tope Adaramola as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Council.
He is expected to take over from Mr. Fatai Adegbenro, who retires from the Council in May, 2021.
Mr. Adaramola who is currently the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Council joined the NCRIB in 2004 as the pioneer Public Relations Manager
A 1989 graduate of Political Science and Industrial Relations (MILR) from the University of Ibadan, Adaramola had earlier worked as a reporter with Ogun Radio, Abeokuta; served as Press Secretary to the Government House, Ogun State between 1991 and 1998, from where he joined the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) in 1998 as the second Public Relations Professional to be engaged by the Association.
While in the Council, Mr. Adaramola rose meteorically through the ranks and availed the entire industry his expertise in Public Relations and public speaking for which he was renowned.
He also avails the industry of his writing prowess as member of the editorial team of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the NCRIB and served on several Industry Committees, including the Insurance Industry Consultative Council (IICC). He was the pioneer Secretary of the Insurance Industry Image Committee.
Adaramola is a product of the European School of Protocol, a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) where he obtained professional certificate in insurance and has attended several courses and training in Insurance, leadership and management in Nigeria, Malta, USA, Canada, UK, South Africa and the Gambia.
He is expected to bring his rich social capital and leadership skills to bear in directing the affairs of the Council as the head of the Secretariat. Adaramola is married with children

The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) inducted fifty six new Associates. The President, Dr. (Mrs.) Bola Onigbogi, FCIB, admitted the newly inducted Associates into the Council at a Ceremony held at the Secretariat in Lagos.

NCRIB DONATES COVID-19 RELIEF MATERIALS TO FCDA

In a bid to extend the frontiers of the Council's Corporate Social Responsibility, the President of the Council, Dr (Mrs) Bola Onigbogi led the delegation of the Council to donate Covid-19 relief materials to the Minister of the Federal Capital Development (FCDA), Alhaji Mohammed Musa Bello.

Presenting the materials made of bags of rice and different range of essential commodities worth over N1million, Dr Onigbogi said the gesture was to assist the Authority in it's efforts to succour the plight of the less privileged most adversely affected by the pandemic.

She said the Council had extended similar gesture to the less privileged in Lagos and that the effort was part of the CSR initiatives of the Council.

The Minister of State FCT in charge of COVID -19 palliatives,
Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu who represented the FCDA Minister applauded the NCRIB for the gesture, noting that it would go a long way in succouring the down throden in the FCDA affected by the pandemic, for which the authority was grateful.

Among those on the the Council's delegation were Mr Lateef Omoladun, the Abuja Area Committee Chairman; Alhaji M.S Umar; Mr Chijioke Nwafor; Mallam Abass Idris and Mr Rotimi Adewole.
