All of a sudden, she stopped, looked me deep in the eyes, and asked;

What are we even doing?!

For the first time that night, my smooth flow of words dried up.

No response came to my head.

We had started as a brand concerned with quality, unique, and beautiful fabrics.

The goal was simple, BOOST PEOPLES CONFIDENCE with fabrics...

Now we've attained some height, and we're slowly forgetting why we started.

But it's not just me... This problem is the reason most businesses fold up.

Give it some thought too;

Kharis and Vlaris - A warrior's tale

It's another market day…

So I'll tell you a SALES story using two boys, Kharis and Vlaris.

Kharis and Vlaris were both Romanians.

They were born in a time where war and gold were the only things of interest.

At a young age, they both wanted to be great warriors, like their uncle.

While Khali gave himself wholly into training, and drills, some of which sometimes had nothing to do with battles.💪

Vlaris hated all these trainings.

He felt they were a waste of time and somehow he didn't need them to be a great warrior.

Initially, his theory seemed to hold true…

He triumphed in little battles and all, alongside his brother, Kharis.

When they finally became of age to partake in the real battle…

They were to pass through one last test.

This was unlike any they’ve seen before, not even in their wildest dreams.

It was a test of everything!🥶

They started out well, but later on, it became evident that somehow, one had skipped a lecture or two…

Did he make it till the end? Ummhh… If I tell you that, then what's there for you to wonder?

Anyways like i said this isn't about war or battles,

It is about you not skipping due process,
Follow it judiciously,
Learn,
Fail & Relearn…

Regardless of the field,

Life has a way of separating the chaff from the real deal - especially in this online space.

When that day comes, which would you be?!

Vlaris didn't make it till the end, only Kharis did.

HOW TO MAKE A PITCH THAT GETS YOU A YES, ANYTIME & ANYWHERE.

Who watched or is watching LIONS DEN?!
Like Nigerians Shark Tank?!

A platform business comes to pitch to investors to invest in their business.

That's one of my favorite shows,

If you are a business owner, seller, and something related…
This would be HELPFUL to you.

There was a boy who had a fashion brand.
He's got nice stock, I bet you'd not see elsewhere. It had both foreign & homemade touch…

He walked in, with two of his models who did a beautiful demonstration, and left...

Now it was time for him to talk the talk, (THE PITCH)

It took me just 2 minutes to realize he WASN'T going to WIN any lion over.

And I would tell you WHY!

His pitch started with JUST BIG TITLES(CEO/Creative designer/ Civil Engineer and all)...

These things are not bad in themselves but then, they can't get you a spot on the table.

NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT!

He went on to talk about his company with FEAR/LACK of CONFIDENCE written all over his face, no energy, and almost felt like he was not the owner...

He was asking for a 20M investment and didn't even JUSTIFY what it is for or what it would get them.

Man literally just threw the thing at their faces...

But you know the sad part?!
He was asked questions and he attempted that thing we do in EXAMS...

Write a long story about B(the one we read) when asked about A(the one we skipped), but these are intellectuals and it certainly didn't work.

At the end of the day, guess what he got?!

"Either you or the business one of them is not investible". and the other 4 lions agreed.

Why am I telling you this?

To make it look like I'm better than him?

Hell Nah, I can't create anything close to the beauties he did.

Neither am I here just to paint my young creative designer black...

A wise man once said;

Smart folks LEARN from the FAILURES/EXPERIENCE of others, not even their own.

I'm only saying this so you can LEARN.

Pitching, Selling is all part of our daily lives.
Learn to do it, It will save you someday.

After the squeeze comes the juice;
NOW, MY ADVICE TO YOU PITCHERS;

- Your titles don't matter, tell us what you have done or show us what you can do.

- Be confident, nobody buys into an idea on its own. They first off buy into you!

-Justify your claims, It's unethical for you to ask me for a dine and not tell me what it going to be used for or better still the results that would get me.

- Always do your homework 100%. When asked a question, answer straight up, no beating around the bush.

If you don't know it, instead of beating around the bush... Tell them politely you don't know it.

Lastly, Be prepared for the worst, and don't let one NO break your spirit...

Figure out what you did wrongly and come back better.

A story on money & how you could possibly buy this land.

Money;
Some call it a medium of exchange,
Some others call it the reward for value.

Those are right but today I'd like to call money one bad guy always on the move.

Money is just an element that is always in circulation, that is to say, it must go round.

That's like a universal law and nothing can make it deviate from that, not even your situation.

Now the reason you're having money issues is still because of this circulation, just that there's a glitch somewhere.

You're still a channel of the flow, you buy food, enter transport, sub your phone, build, and all you do with money.

Now the big problem is you don't collect the one you're meant to collect, mind you money has no feelings, so even if you don't collect your share you must still give others their own.

You gerrit?!
Or can you decide to starve because you want to break the chain? Mbanu na.
What if you fall sick?

When you receive less and give out more you end up broke, sad, feeling cheated and frustrated.

But that frustration ends today! How??

Simply answer; What can I do to collect all my share of money?

&

How do I get to give out not more than I should?

My answer to you;

- Get a means of earning, something to sell, or a service to render.

- Solve problems, put out something of value people need.

- Keep reinvesting in yourself and your source of income, let it grow and blossom into something really huuge.

- Pay yourself or in other words save, then invest and look for a way of making money work for you.

- Don't spend just to impress or look like you have, It's not worth it.

- It's not everything that passes you would buy, my mom would say sometimes look away. It's not a scarcity mindset, it's discipline. The truth is you don't need all that stuff, at least not now.

When your money is doing the work, you could now go on and even buy Nigeria if you want!

The why might not be as important as you think.

A couple of days ago, I had this conversation with one of my mentors. He told me about his early days.

How when he started in the online space he was so desperate to earn, foot his bills, clear his debt, flex, and all that.

After a couple of months, he was burned out without achieving any of the things he set out to do.

That was when he met a guy who changed his life with just one lesson; "EARNING IS BUT AN INCENTIVE FOR LEARNING".

This simply means earning is a reward for learning, So if you can't sit down and learn that thing you so badly want may keep eluding you.

I gave this some thought, looked around all the people doing great and that's one of the few things they have in common.

Copywriters learn first, Web designers do the same things, and marketers aren't left out of the equation.

So my friend,

In any place you find yourself, Like any industry at all, if you can calm down and learn you'd thrive.

But if you don't you'd end up frustrated, broke, and drained.

This was also a lesson I learned the hard way.

How you could change your word by doing something you already do.

I flipped through the pages in my head and I couldn't find a better headline so here we go.

There was a lady named Rachael in her late twenties. She had graduated a couple of years ago, Life wasn't entirely easy for her.

Rachael was the first child, her dad was late and her mum was running a little kiosk so there was a bulk of responsibility on her shoulder.

She was always complaining, using words like tired, hated her life, this stuff can't work, too many problems, and other negative words.

Then one day she came across this video by Les Brown that talked about how our worlds were built by exactly what we say, the words we use, and how we say it.

She laughed and whispered ndi motivational speaker as usual but a part of her just said let's practice for 7 days.

7 days turned into 7 months, she did not get a sporadic change or anything magical but she was in such a better place than she was and would be in an even better one.

Just by simply doing what she always did; Talk. Only this time she replaced the negative words with the positive ones.

Perhaps you too can change your world by doing the same.

Resolve for the next 7 days to only use positive words and watch the magic.
