Emirates FA Cup: Ighalo Ready For Chelsea Showdown

Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo is looking forward to Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea..

Ighalo missed the chance to play in the final in 2016 during his time with Watford.

The 31-year-old was part of the Hornets team which narrowly lost out to United’s final opponents, Crystal Palace in the last four.

“Everybody wants to play against teams like Chelsea, big teams, and
play well against them and, most of all, playing at Wembley and, you
know if you win, you’re in the final. So, of course, it’s going to give you
more to want to fight hard and make sure you give everything to win
the game,”Ighalo told the club’s official website.

“To get to the final would be great for me in my life and my career. I
missed out in 2016 and I have the opportunity to now get to the final
with the club I’ve supported all my life. It would make my dreams
perfect. It will be tough but we have what it takes.

“We have beaten them three times this season I think, one in the
Carabao Cup and two in the league, and we’re playing them now in the
semi-final. All those games don’t count though.

“This is a different game which is going to be even tougher without the fans in
stadium. We have to fight from the first minute until the end. It’s
always tough against them but I think, with the quality and
momentum we have now, we are ready to go and to win against any
team.”

It was Ighalo’s opener in the quarter-final clash at Norwich last month
which set United on our way to reaching the last four.

Since then, the Reds have been in free-flowing goalscoring form and Ighalo says he is
both enjoying seeing his fellow forwards in such fine fettle and is
training hard to ensure he is ready whenever he may be needed to
support them in attack.

“They are doing so well,” he said, when asked about the recent goal
exploits of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

“Seeing them playing every week is a joy. Rashford has come back
from his injury and is doing well. Martial is scoring goals, Mason
Greenwood is unbelievable, he is such a good finisher with both feet.

“The team is doing well and the three forwards are scoring goals and
that’s what we need – goals win games. And I don’t forget Bruno
[Fernandes] with the assists and goals too. I think the mentality is
getting stronger every time.

“As a professional, you have to be ready, you have to have that
mental strength to be ready,” he continued. “We train hard to keep fit
and I’m always ready when I’m called upon, and I will give 100 per
cent. You always have to stay focused.”

Klopp Officially Puts Osimhen On Liverpool Shopping List; Man United Make Hay Too

The pair of English Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Manchester United have moved to hijack Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen’s summer move from LOSC Lille to Napoli.

Reports, however, say Liverpool have taken decisive steps’ in their pursuit of Osimhen who was closing in on a move to Napoli with manager, Jurgen Klopp officially asking for the striker. The forward has been in red-hot form for the French side this season and that has sparked interest in him around the whole of Europe.

It had looked like Napoli had won the race earlier this week with reports stating that Osimhen had instructed his agent to close negotiations with the likes of Liverpool as he closed in on Naples. However, there appears to have been a complete 160-degree turnaround on Friday with reports in Italy claiming Liverpool had been in contact again about a potential move.

RAI Sport journalist, Ciro Venerato added to these rumours, stating that Liverpool were still in the race for forward’s signature and were actually ‘in the lead’ for his signature.

He has now followed up those comments and added further hope for any Reds fans who want to see the Nigerian attacking sensation lining
up at Anfield next season.

“New and perhaps decisive steps forward in Liverpool’s purchase of Osimhen,” hè told Calcio Napoli 24. “His new agent seems to have left little margin for the Blue management after a telephone talk.

Pogba Set To Sign New Five-Year Deal At Man United

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is reportedly on the verge of signing a new five-year deal at the club completing an incredible turnaround for him from 12 months ago.

Last summer, Pogba was set on leaving United, with former club Juventus and Real Madrid showing interest.

But according to The Sun, after working his way back to full fitness and impressing alongside Bruno Fernandes in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield post-lockdown, the 27-year-old will sign a fresh extension at Old Trafford – with the news expected to be announced at the end of the season.

The report details that United manager Solskjaer is starting to plan with Pogba firmly in his plans for the future.

With Pogba’s current deal set to expire next year – though United have the option of extending for another 12 months – a new contract until 2025 would represent a long-term commitment from both club and player.

Aside from a mistake which led to Southampton’s first goal in the 2-2 draw on Monday night, Pogba has been one of United’s standout performers since the Premier League restarted on June 17.

After playing just twice since September due to a number of ankle injuries pre-lockdown, the three-month break has rejuvenated the midfielder, signed for ÂŁ89million from Juventus in 2016.

He came off the bench and won a penalty in United’s first game back, a 1-1 draw away to Tottenham, registered an assist in a 3-0 win against Brighton and scored in the win versus Aston Villa last week by the same scoreline.

Most notably, however, playing alongside January acquisition Bruno Fernandes seems to have motivated Pogba to get playing back to somewhere near his best form.

On Pogba’s form and the potential of him being rested for the trip to Crystal Palace on Thursday, Solskjaer said: “I’ve been speaking more or less every day with Paul. He knows he wouldn’t be dropped.

“When Paul plays like this, he wouldn’t be dropped from any team in the world — France or Manchester United — but he’s been out for a long, long time.

“There was a question mark before the game against Southampton but he felt ready for it, which was great, so now let’s see how he is.

“He’s been fantastic since the restart and brought a lot to the team.”

Tottenham Hotspur Set To Hijack Osimhen from Napoli

Tottenham Hotspur are attempting a late bid to sign Victor Osimhen

Osimhen is very close to completing a deal to Serie A club Napoli, but Tottenham Hotspur are showing keen interest in signing the forward.

The 21-year-old recently spent time with Gennaro Gattuso and president Aurelio Laurentiis in a bid to finalise a move to the club.

Tottenham officials are expected to meet Osimhen’s representatives on Wednesday (today) to discuss the move.

Osimhen plans to leave Lille this summer after spending just one season at the club.

He scored 18 goals and recorded six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for Lille in the 2019/20 season.

Chapecoense Survivor😓 Dies After Heart-Attack😢

A survivor of the 2016 Chapecoense air disaster has died of a heart attack.

Rafael Henzel was a journalist on board the plane that crashed near Medellin, Colombia whilst carrying the Chapecoense team to a Copa Sudamericana match.

He was one of six survivors of the accident that claimed the lives of 71 passengers, many of them members of the Chapecoense team.

The plane carrying Chapecoense was flying from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in Bolivia, where the team had spent a brief stopover.

The 45-year-old collapsed whilst playing football with friends on Tuesday in his native Brazil, and died in hospital shortly after.

"Throughout his brilliant career, Rafael told the story of Chapecoense," the ChapecĂł club said in a tribute on its website.

"The green and white pages of this institution will always remember his example of overcoming [adversity] and everything he did."
