A Life cover is another name for ‘Life Insurance’. It is a contract between an insurer(e.g. Leadway Assurance) and a policyholder in which the insurer guarantees payment of benefit (usually a lump sum) to named beneficiaries in the event of a specified occurrence to the insured.

In Leadway Lifestyle Protection Plan (LLPP) for instance, there is a life cover in case of loss of life, critical illness and total disability. So if a person has a life cover of 5 million naira, that’s what his/her beneficiaries will get should such event happen.

Endowment plan
(a.k.a Target Plan)is a target or futuristic plan where the policyholder sets a target sum he/she wants to achieve by a specified date in the future. The policy holder will be required to make consistent contributions over a specific period of time and upon maturity he/she will be paid the target sum. In a case where the policyholder passes away even before the set date , the exact target amount is paid to the beneficiary(s) according to the policyholder’s decision.

For instance, a father saving towards his daughters’ education to study in Canada in 2030 using Leadway Education Target Plan. By 2030, he would get the pre-agreed target sum and even if he passes away before then, that same target amount he is saving towards will be paid to cover his daughter’s education.
