DAY 12 — FIDELITY GUARANTEE

What is Fidelity Guarantee?

It protects a business against direct financial loss caused by fraud, theft, forgery or dishonesty by covered employees in connection with their duties, subject to the policy terms.

Who needs it?

Especially businesses where employees handle cash, stock, payments, company property or financial transactions.

Simple example

Imagine an employee entrusted with company funds deliberately diverts some of that money for personal benefit. If the loss falls within the policy's terms, Fidelity Guarantee can help indemnify the employer for the covered direct financial loss.

DAY 11 — GROUP LIFE INSURANCE

What is Group Life Insurance?
Group Life Insurance is a life insurance policy an employer takes to provide financial protection for employees. If a covered employee dies while the policy is in force, the benefit is paid to the appropriate beneficiary

Who qualifies?
Employees covered under the employer’s Group Life policy, subject to the policy terms and applicable regulations.

Why do employers provide it?
Because employees are not just workers—they have families and people depending on them. Group Life provides a financial safety net for their loved ones.

🇳🇬 Employer's obligation in Nigeria

Under Section 4(5) of the Pension Reform Act 2014, employers covered by the Act are required to maintain Group Life Insurance for their employees, with a minimum cover of three times each employee's annual total emolument.

Employers also have obligations around maintaining the cover and ensuring the required premium is paid promptly.

Practical example

If an employee earns ₦4 million in annual total emolument, the statutory minimum Group Life cover would be ₦12 million.

So, Group Life isn't simply an employee benefit—it is also an important part of employer compliance and employee welfare.

The real question for employers:
👉 Is your Group Life policy active, adequate and up to date?

YOU’RE A PROFESSIONAL.
BUT EVEN PROFESSIONALS CAN MAKE MISTAKES.

Professional Indemnity Insurance protects professionals against certain legal liabilities arising from negligence, errors or omissions in the course of providing professional services. It can respond to claims for financial loss suffered by a client, subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions.

Think about professionals such as accountants, consultants, lawyers, engineers, architects, medical practitioners and other service providers whose advice or expertise can affect their clients financially.

One mistake shouldn't wipe out years of hard work.
