OMDA PERMANENT SECRETARY PAID WORKING VISIT TO BUDGETS COMMISSIONER TO STRENGTHEN SYNERGY FOR EFFECTIVE PROJECT DELIVERY IN ZAMFARA.

The Permanent Secretary,Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, OMDA, Saadatu Abdu Gusau, today paid a working visit to the Honourable Commissioner,
Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning,Professor Yahaya Zakari in his office.

The visit was aimed at strengthening synergy and institutional collaboration between OMDA and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to ensure effective coordination,
planning and implementation of all Donor and Multilateral Funded Projects in Zamfara State.

Receiving the Permanent Secretary and her team, Professor Yahaya Zakari described the visit as timely and strategic. He emphasized that budget planning and donor coordination must be seamlessly linked for the state to achieve maximum impact under the administration of His Excellency,
Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal.

In her remarks, Saadatu Abdu Gusau stated that the purpose of the visit was to formally deepen the working relationship between OMDA and the Ministry, and to ensure that all donor inflows, project pipelines, and implementation reports are properly aligned with the state’s budget and development priorities.

The key Areas of Agreement During the Visit are: Joint Planning & Budget Alignment, Data Sharing & Reporting, Regular Technical Meetings and Capacity Building etc.

Both principals reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, efficiency, and results in the management of development resources to support Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal's Administration.

OMDA HOSTS COMMAND SCIENCE SCHOOL GUSAU, PLEDGES SUPPORT TO BOOST GIRLS’ ENROLLMENT UNDER AGILE.

The Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, OMDA, has reassured its commitment to increasing access to quality education for girls in Zamfara State through strategic partnerships under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project,AGILE.

This was stated when the Commandant, Command Science Secondary School for Girls, Gusau, Major Fatimat Jimoh, paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary,OMDA and State Project Coordinator,AGILE, Saadatu Abdu Gusau, in her office at the OMDA Secretariat, Government House, Gusau.

During the visit, Major Jimoh solicited the support of the Zamfara State Government through OMDA and AGILE to enhance students’ enrollment and address infrastructural challenges in the school.

She disclosed that the school currently has a total enrollment of 75 students, with 25 of them set to graduate this year. She attributed the low enrollment to limited public awareness and other challenges, and called for collaboration to reposition the school as a center of excellence for girls’ science education in the state.

“We are here to seek collaboration with the state government through OMDA and AGILE. With your support in enrollment drive and infrastructure, we can admit more girls and give them quality science education that will prepare them for the future,”Major Jimoh stated.

In her response,the Permanent Secretary,OMDA and also State Project Coordinator, AGILE,Saadatu Abdu Gusau, expressed delight over the visit and commended the Commandant for her leadership and commitment to girls’ education.

Saadatu pledged to undertake an on-the-spot assessment of the school to ascertain the challenges with a view to reporting to the appropriate authorities for necessary intervention.

She also pledged to lead a media sensitization campaign to create public awareness on the importance of the school and encourage parents to enroll their female wards.

“AGILE, under the coordination of OMDA,is committed to increasing access to secondary education for girls in Zamfara.We will work with the school to address the enrollment gap and ensure more girls benefit from the opportunities available," the PS/AGILE SPC assured.

In her closing remarks,Major Jimoh appreciated the warm reception accorded to her by the OMDA/AGILE team and formally invited the Permanent Secretary to attend the graduation ceremony of the 25 graduating students of the school.

The Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with Multilateral and Donor Agencies to accelerate infrastructure development in the Works and Transport sector.

This was the outcome of a strategic engagement between the Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, OMDA,and the Ministry of Works and Transport held today Thursday 9-July-2026 at the Ministry’s headquarters in Gusau.

The Permanent Secretary,OMDA, Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau,led the OMDA delegation on the visit.She stated that the meeting was in line with the “Rescue Agenda” of His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal, to leverage donor support and multilateral collaboration for sustainable development and improved service delivery across the state.

“Our mandate is to coordinate and mobilize development support that aligns with state priorities. The Works and Transport sector is critical to economic growth,and we are exploring bankable projects that can attract funding from our development partners,”she said.

In his response,the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Transport, Lawali Barau Bungudu,welcomed the initiative and assured the Ministry’s full commitment to the partnership.

“We are ready to work with OMDA and all development partners to deliver quality road networks,efficient transport systems, and other critical infrastructure that will directly impact the lives of our people,”the Commissioner stated.

Both parties agreed to deepen collaboration and jointly identify priority projects for proposal development and donor engagement.

PERMANENT SECRETARY MULTILATERAL & DONOR AGENCIES SUPERVISES L-PRES PROJECT SITES IN ZAMFARA, COMMENDS PROGRESS

The Permanent Secretary,Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies,
Saadatu Abdu Gusau, today led her team on an inspection tour of key project sites executed under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, in Zamfara State.

The team was received by the State Project Coordinator,Nasiru Muhammad, who conducted the Permanent Secretary round the facilities to assess progress and quality of work.

Saadatu inspected ongoing work at the modern abattoir where small and medium animal slaughter slabs and an integrated waste management system are being installed.The facility is designed to improve hygiene, reduce post-slaughter losses,and create a safer environment for meat processing.

At the Farmers’ Field School, the Permanent Secretary observed preparations for training livestock farmers on best practices.The training will cover proper animal handling,milk hygiene,and sanitizing milk collection points to improve quality and market value of livestock products.

The team also visited newly constructed Zonal Veterinary Clinics in Damba area Gusau.The clinic will provide free healthcare services to livestock, improve animal health, and boost productivity for farmers across the three zones of Gusau,Kaura and Talata Mafara respectively.

Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau expressed satisfaction with the level of work observed.“I am impressed with what I have seen today.The commitment of the L-PRES team under Alhaji Nasiru Muhammad is commendable. These projects will directly improve the livelihood of our livestock farmers and align perfectly with the ‘Rescue Agenda’ of His Excellency Governor Dauda Lawal,” she said.

She reaffirmed the Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies’ commitment to supporting development partners and ensuring projects that impact the lives of Zamfara people are delivered to standard and on time.

The State project coordinator L-PRESS Nasiru Muhammad appreciated the commitment of His Excellency Dauda Lawal towards the L-PRESS project in the state,The commissioner of Agriculture,The office of multilateral and donor agencies and all other stakeholders supporting their activities in the state.

The L-PRES Project is a World Bank-assisted initiative aimed at improving livestock productivity, resilience,and market access for farmers in participating states Zamfara inclusive.

The Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies coordination [OMDA] hosted an engagement meeting with the Zamfara State Bureau of Statistics at the OMDA Conference Hall,Gusau,to strengthen collaboration on data generation and access to donor-supported opportunities.

Delivering the welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of OMDA highlighted key opportunities that the Zamfara State Bureau of Statistics can harness to improve data collection, management, and utilization for evidence-based planning and development in the state.

Stating the objective of the meeting.The Technical Assistant to the Agency Engr.Yusuf outlined the available windows of opportunity for the Bureau through partnerships with international donor organizations. He noted that agencies like United Nations Development Programme [UNDP],United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF] etc, offer support in areas such as education statistics, gender statistics, and other critical data systems.

In his response, the Team Lead from the Zamfara State Bureau of Statistics and M&E Desk Officer, Sama’ila Sa’idu, appreciated the presentation, stating that it addressed the Bureau’s immediate needs.He requested continued guidance and technical support from OMDA to enable the Bureau to meet donor and state expectations effectively.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from both institutions to deepen collaboration and ensure that the Bureau is well-positioned to leverage available donor support for improved statistical production in Zamfara State.
