IGBO AND ISRAEL WHO PREDATES WHO: THE ERRORS SUMMARISED
No serious historian denies that the name “Ysrỉr” appears in ancient Near Eastern inscriptions.
The debate is not whether the word exists. The debate is what those references actually establish is it authentically ISRAEL or rendered to be So?
The Merneptah Stele refers to “Ysrỉr,” yes — but as a people group (the determinative indicates a socioethnic group, not a territorial state).
That tells us that a population called Ysrỉr existed in Canaan in the late 13th century BCE. It does not confirm the Exodus, Sinai, or a conquest narrative.
That’s a leap beyond the inscription.
The Tel Dan Stele likely contains “House of DaH-Veed.” Even if we grant the majority scholarly reading, that confirms a dynastic name in the 9th century BCE. It does not validate the scale of a united monarchy described centuries later in biblical texts. A dynastic memory is not the same as proof of a vast empire.
The Mesha Stele mentions Ysrỉr as a political entity. That supports the existence of a kingdom in the Iron Age. It does not authenticate earlier patriarchal narratives.
The Kurkh Monoliths reference Ahab of Ysrỉr. The Black Obelisk of Shalmaneser III depicts Jehu. These confirm Ysrỉr’s geopolitical presence in the 9th century BCE. Again — Iron Age monarchy, not Bronze Age Exodus.
Here is the methodological issue:
You are treating external confirmation of Iron Age Ysrỉr as confirmation of the entire biblical historical framework. Those are not the same claim. Mainstream scholarship already distinguishes between:
1. The historical existence of Ysrỉr as an Iron Age polity (widely accepted)
2. The historicity of earlier biblical traditions (still debated)That distinction is standard in Near Eastern studies.History is not proven by stacking inscriptions. It is established by convergence: archaeology, settlement patterns, material culture, demographic modeling, textual criticism, and comparative historiography.
On questions like the scale of the united monarchy or the nature of Ysrỉr’s origins, there remains substantial scholarly disagreement.
So this is not about “vowel omission” or “transliteration confusion.” That is a distraction. The real issue is evidentiary scope.
No one is denying Ysrỉr appears in ancient records. The question is what those records actually prove — and what they do not.

WHAT WAS IGBOLAND CALLED 5000 YEARS AGO?
To answer your question, I will first of all point out that linguistically, as at 5000 years ago i.e 7026 BCE, the present system of Amalgamation of a people does not exist as it is today as current research works tries to recount the names which was handed over to them which is more of a name which those ancestors of ours identified themselves as in their writings which we are provileged to have unearthed in several part of what is now Igbo Land.
Evidently, we must treat it in the following manner so it will be scholarly to even a layman.
1. PRE-STONE AGE (NDI MBU NA NDI EGEDE) Ugwuele-like settlers of over 250-500,000 years ago who were mainly cavemen living in other caves like (Ogbunike in Anambra, Amanchor Cave in Ebonyi and Owerre-Ezukala Caves).
They are Aboriginals that settled in the peaceful Era before the Cataclysmic depletion.
2. EARLY/LATE STONE AGE (AKANSHI/NDI. GBOO/AKWANSHI) those that referenced: this era were more of Stone workers and Ritual Priests.
Ke'mgbe Eri
Ke'mgbe Eshi
Ehi mgbe
Ke'mgbe Nshi etc.
ALL the above is saying (In the time of Eri/Eshi/Nshi/Ushi/Ehi). This is because ERI, EHI, ESHI, NSHI had been linguistically interchanged over time but they all reference to that time immemorial.
3. IRON AGE (NDI USHI/AKANSHI)
Those that are "Oka" Igwe who lived around Okigwe, Awka, Lejja.
4. MODERN ERA (NDI GBOO COMPRISING OF: NDI AKANSHI, OLU, IGBO, (ANCIENT IFE) AGBAJA, ISU, ARO, EJEGHAM, IGALA, EKOI, ADANMGBE, TIAP, EDDA, NSUKKA, IDUU, ETC)
The above is my way of classifying them to make sense to a lay man.
So the oldest name that has stood the test of time is NdI MBU NA NDI EGEDE which translates to The First and Aboriginals.
While AKANSHI is their more of their Recent identity before the iron age.
Also note that the idea of our inland migration must be treated with respect to the different eras like Stone and Iron age era and also must acknowledge the Upward and Downward migrations that happened within this geographical location. The best example is to say that One may have migrated from Delta-Anambra to Enugu to Ebonyi or Abia to Imo Anambra or vice versa.
We must not treat our internal migration with this current idea of superiority.
SO WHO PREDATE WHO: IGBO OR ISRAEL?
Igboland predates Ysrỉr by millennia: Igboland settlements date back ~8,000 years ago, long before Ysrỉr’s earliest external mentions (~3,200 years ago).Ironworking in Igboland by 2000 BCE predates the formation of Ysrỉr’s kingdoms. Continuous human presence: Igboland shows uninterrupted habitation and technological development from ~8000 BCE to the present, unlike Ysrỉr, whose polity emerges much later. Cultural and technological sophistication: Early Igboland settlements had pottery, agriculture, and ironworking, reflecting an advanced society before Ysrỉr’s kingdoms existed.
WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY?
From an archaeological and chronological perspective: Igboland is significantly older than Ysrỉr as a polity. Archaeology shows beyond 8,000 years of human settlement in Igboland (not adding the pre-stone ages of over 250-500,000 years of evidence of settlements), while Ysrỉr appears in inscriptions and organized monarchy ~3,200–3,000 years ago. Therefore, insisting that Igboland predates Ysrỉr is supported by archaeological evidence.
Around 8000 BCE, Igboland (in present-day Nigeria) already shows evidence of Late Stone Age settlements and organized hunter-gatherer communities. By approximately 6000 BCE, pottery and early village settlements had emerged in areas such as Okigwe and Awka. Around 5000 BCE, there was continued settlement, agriculture, and pottery development in Nsukka and Afikpo. By 4000 BCE, early ironworking activities had begun at Lejja in the Nsukka region. By roughly 3000 BCE, there is evidence of advanced village organization and continuity of cultural artifacts. By 2000 BCE, Igboland had developed mature iron smelting technology alongside complex and stable settlements.
In contrast, the earliest widely recognized extra-biblical reference to Israel appears around 1200 BCE on the Merenptah Stele, approximately 3,200 years ago. Around 1000 BCE, the period traditionally associated with the United Monarchy under David and Solomon is said to have been established. By about 900 BCE, the Tel Dan Stele references the “House of David,” indicating the existence of a recognized dynastic entity. By 800 BCE, Assyrian imperial records were referring to Israel as a political state.
Let’s separate noise from scholarship.
After reading the above, it makes me to look at the PHD holders whom are Hell-bent on making a Nation who is at least 5000 years older than what you render as Israel today and affirm that the same people migrated from Israel even though we have archeological evidences of over 100,000 years here.
In the words of Late Catherine Acholonu, I will say again, WE LIVED BEFORE ADAM as we are a race with evidence of over 1 million years.
