FOR GREATNESS- They Prayed Hard… But Still Went Broke
Everyone in church admired Daniel and Grace.
They were always in the front row.
They never missed prayer meetings.
They posted scriptures daily.
People called them “kingdom couple goals.”
But behind closed doors?
Their marriage was silently bleeding.
Daniel believed,
"God will provide, I don’t need financial planning."
Grace believed,
"As long as we pray, everything will work out."
They kept sowing seeds…
But never built savings.
They attended vigils…
But never had honest conversations about debt.
They shouted “Amen!” in church…
But shouted at each other at home.
When rent was due—prayer.
When school fees came—fasting.
When business failed—“the devil is attacking us.”
Years later, reality knocked hard.
Their children were sent home from school.
Debt piled up.
Family pressure increased.
Their love became resentment.
One night Grace cried and asked:
“How can two people who love God so much be failing at life, marriage, and money?”
Daniel sat quietly and realized something painful:
They were using religion to avoid responsibility.
Faith is powerful…
But faith without discipline can create chaos.
Religion should teach:
Character in marriage
Wisdom in finances
Accountability in life
Peace in relationships
Hard work with prayer
Some people pray for millionaire breakthroughs but refuse budgeting.
Some pray for a peaceful marriage but refuse communication.
Some blame spiritual attacks for problems caused by poor decisions.
God can bless your hands…
But you still need to work.
God can restore marriage…
But you still need respect, communication, and maturity.
God can open doors…
But you still need financial wisdom.
The truth?
Prayer is not a replacement for planning.
Faith is not a replacement for discipline.
Religion should guide your life—not excuse poor choices.
Daniel and Grace changed everything:
They created a budget.
Started a business.
Communicated better.
Stopped performing religion for people.
Started living intentionally.
Three years later…
Their marriage healed.
Their finances grew.
Their peace returned.
And this time…
Their testimony was built on both faith and wisdom.
The point:
Serve God deeply—but don’t neglect life skills, marriage responsibility, and financial discipline.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”
— Bible, Luke 14:28
Author: Luke the Evangelist
This directly speaks to planning before acting—especially financially.
