Ayegbaju Ekiti Youth Forum (AEYF)
PRESS RELEASE
Resolutions of the Town Hall Meeting held on Tuesday 9th May, 2023.
In respect to the Appeal Letter sent by the Management of Federal University Oye (FUOYE) dated 3rd May 2023 (FUOYE/REG/TR/173/Vol.1) on the need to create conducive environment for the Fuoye Students living in Ayegbaju Ekiti, else their Campus will be relocated. Town Hall Meeting was held having His Royal Majesty Owa of Ayegbaju Ekiti ably represented by High Chief Obajagun, the Owa-In-Council, Eyeki, Town Conference's President, ADA Chairman and Executives, AEYF President, Executives and Quarters' Youths, FASU Executives, SUG President of FUOYE Institute of Part-time and Executives, the Elites and Proud Sons of Ayegbaju Ekiti both at home and Diaspora who were fully aware of the Town Hall meeting.
The major issue that was raised and requires urgent attention to be ironed out is the "Oro act" whom the FUOYE Students expressed their dissatisfaction on, claims they all sees the 'Oro act' as threats, scary exercise, act of discomfort, source of pandemonium etc that made them sees the Community as an unsafe one. They stretched on the need for such an act to be stopped by the People in the Community so that the growth and development that the Community is experiencing will be sustainable.
In lieu of the above claim, the Owa-In-Council and the general populace agreed unanimously that such an act (Orò act) should be suspended for the period of 3years, after which the Owa-In-Council will go to their drawing board and come to a reasonable conclusion as per what to do about it in a sustainable way.
It was a thing of joy and solution for all the Proud Ayegbaju Sons that were present at the Town Hall Meeting, although there are some (Youths and Adults) who initially expressed their dissatisfaction on eradicating such an act (Orò act), but the majority were clamouring for it's eradication/suspension.
Simultaneously, after the consultations and engagements in constructive deliberations, it was resolved that the "Orò or Ebora act" be suspended for a period of 3years, after which the Owa-In-Council will deliberate on the next line of action or ways to go by it, whether to continue or totally eradicate them
"Community Development is more important to us in Ayegbaju Ekiti than the said "Orò act" or Ebora."
In conclusion, the necessary moves will be made and appropriate actions taken to assure the Management of Federal University Oye (FUOYE) on the recent development and our decision to choose and prefer the development of our dear Community to the said "Orò act".
The Owa-In-Council will write the appropriate body (FUOYE Management) in response to their claim and inform them that necessary measures have been taken to ensure that Ayegbaju Community creates an enabling environment for the FUOYE Students like from the onset.
