THE CAPE MADE WITH SILK FROM 1.2 MILLION SPIDERS
For five years, a team of 80 people worked on creating a cape made from the silk of the golden orb-weaver spider, considered one of the rarest natural textile materials ever used.
The project involved collecting silk from approximately 1.2 million spiders through a careful process that allowed the threads to be extracted without harming the animals. These spiders produce a naturally golden silk known for its exceptional strength and elasticity compared to other biological materials.
The final piece became recognized for its golden shine and intricate handcrafted structure. The project gained international attention because of the enormous human effort, technical precision, and years required to create a single garment using natural spider silk.
