The real edge? Knowing when you have none...
“If most traders would learn to sit on their hands 50 percent of the time, they would make a lot more money.”
- Bill Lipschutz
This is honestly the truth most traders never learn.
The problem is when the market opens, people feel the urge to “do something.”
That’s when rules get ignored…
Chasing starts…
Winners get cut early…
Losers get held…
All because the mind gets bored.
But trading isn’t about constant activity.
It’s mostly waiting.
You strike when the time is right, not when your mind gets bored.
Your system tells you when to play.
Your mind tells you to act just to feel productive.
Only one of those leads to consistency.
And this is exactly why one of the first skills I teach is the Anti-Trigger Method.
Because if you can’t step back from your thoughts, your thoughts will run your trading.
It’s the skill of noticing your mind without getting hooked by it.
Seeing thoughts as passing events, not instructions.
No arguing with them. No reacting. Just awareness.
Here's something you can start doing this week...
When the trigger thoughts kicks in, try this:
“I’m noticing I’m having the thought
That simple line creates separation.
It’s cognitive defusion in its cleanest form.
You detach instead of getting dragged into the story.
Most traders don’t want to work on this part…
But it’s essential.
Because once you build this skill, everything else falls into place.
Patience becomes easier.
Rules become easier.
You stop forcing action and let the market come to you.
And that is how you succeed!
