The class shows graduating seniors how to do mundane tasks, that many of them may have never thought of doing themselves.

It's unfortunate that Hawaii has struggled in this tournament. I see some comments on how we suck. Maybe you can step up to the plate and make a better team?!

Hawaii has never won this tournament! Our name isn't on the perpetual trophy that goes back 30 or more years. I thought we were just as good as these other countries. I guess we're just better at fighting amongst ourselves!

Hawaii Spearos!!!

Is there anyone interested in participating in the International Pacific Spearfishing Championships (Aka-Interpac) in 2017? The event will be held in Guam between March 26-April 1. If you interested and have a team or are an individual please let Marnie Balubar or myself know as soon as possible. If there is more then one team interested then we will need to host an Elimination by end of January 2017.
FYI a team consists of 4 people. If your an individual interested we can team you with other individuals.
This event, should you qualify, will cost approximately $4000-$5000. This cost is airfare, entry fee, hotel, boat and food. This does not include any personal expenses or equipment.
In the event you qualify we may ask you (your team) for a large deposit to be held in escrow until you are confirmed to go. Reason for this is if you cancel at the last minute we may need to scramble to find a replacement. We would like to avoid this stressful scenario with serious people.

International Pacific Spearfishing Championships 2016 in Paihia, New Zealand was a great time. Although we didn't bring home the Championship it was the best performance we ever had outside of Hawaii. As said by teammate Spencer Haskins "We smashed some nice fish on day 2 of ! Ended up placing 2nd for day 2 with 31 pieces; but the hole was too deep to come out of from day one... ended up 5th overall. Not exactly where we wanted to end up, but we tried our best and had lots of fun
We want to say a HUGE MAHALO to our sponsors and supporters. Without you we would not be able to show that Hawaii can be competitive amongst other Pacific nations (Australia, Guam, New Zealand, New Caledonia, & Tahiti). The team has been here for up to a week now. While our photos may indicate clear skies, calm conditions, and wide open fish, it certainly hasn't been like that all the time! And then the daily challenges in the form of attempting communication in a French-speaking country, having to use boats to get to all the dive sites, and being decimated by mosquitos...But we're getting work done and still in good spirits. Several scouting days under the belt now, and we're still a week out from the tournament. Aloha from New Caledonia!
