On 4 August 2026, senior leaders from Islamic financial institutions gathered at the Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC-IIUM), for the Pre-Programme of the 4th Purpose-based Islamic Leadership (PIL) Programme.
The session featured an introduction to the PIL Programme, a sharing session by the 3rd PIL Cohort Leader, reflective discussions on the intellectual legacy of Royal Professor Laureate Tan Sri Dr Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and a guided walk through the renowned library.
The Purpose-based Islamic Leadership Programme aims to nurture leaders who are guided by a clear sense of purpose, anchored in Islamic leadership principles and committed to upholding the values of integrity, wisdom, Adab and the sense of Amanah entrusted to leaders. Through the programme, participants explore the fundamentals of Islamic leadership, examine its distinction from contemporary leadership models through case studies and reflect on leadership challenges such as leadership derailment arising from the loss of Adab.
We look forward to welcoming all participants to Penang from 17 to 21 August 2026 as they continue this meaningful leadership journey.
