That day, I was sorting through some of my clients’ claim records.
One bill after another:
RM90,162.65
RM11,907.53
RM6,996.45
RM25,275.90
RM1,622
RM18,017.14
RM5,897.13
RM32,478.55
RM3,451.01
RM2,501.50
All four-digit and five-digit amounts.
Many people think
insurance is just a small amount deducted every month.
It doesn’t seem like a big deal.
Until one day
when the hospital bill actually arrives.
I’ve seen many clients during their hospital stay.
What worries them the most isn’t always the illness.
It’s the question:
“How much is this going to cost?”
Some people see their savings suddenly cut in half.
Some start calling around to borrow money.
Some are still calculating the costs even while receiving treatment.
But there’s also another situation.
After being discharged, a client simply tells me:
“I’ll pass the bill to you. Help me handle the claim.”
After some time,
the insurance payout comes through.
Life goes on for them.
A single illness doesn’t disrupt everything.
Many people think insurance is something you buy “just in case.”
But after doing this for years,
I’ve come to see it differently.
It’s more like a quiet form of protection.
Most of the time, you barely notice it.
But when something does happen,
that’s when you realize someone had already prepared for it.
These bills are not just numbers to me.
They represent many families
being able to breathe a little easier
during one of their most uncertain moments.
