“But I Already Made a Nomination…”

When Mr. Smith passed away, his wife was not too worried at first.

She knew he had made nominations for his EPF and insurance policies.

“Luckily, he already nominated me,” she told her children.
“At least everything will come to me easily.”

The EPF had a nomination.
The insurance policy had a nomination.

Those assets could be dealt with according to the relevant nomination arrangements.

But then she discovered something else.

What about the house? 🏠
What about the bank account? 🏦
What about the car? 🚗
What about the investments and other assets in his name?

“Where is the nomination for all these?” she asked.

The answer was simple:

Not every asset can be nominated.

Some assets may still form part of the estate and require estate administration before they can be transferred to the rightful beneficiaries.

Without a Will, the family may have to go through a longer and more complicated process to administer the estate.

That was when she finally understood:

💥 A nomination is not the same as a Will.

A nomination may help with certain specific assets.

But a Will can provide instructions for the assets that are still part of your estate.

⚠️ Having a nomination doesn’t mean every asset is covered.
⚠️ Not every asset can be nominated.
⚠️ Some assets still require estate administration.

✅ A Will helps complete your estate plan.

Don’t assume your family knows what to do when the time comes.

Plan the whole picture, not just one part of it.
