The Business Idea Pitching (BIP) project is coming to address the ongoing challenge of limited access to funding for Micro and Small Enterprises in Lesotho, despite their important contribution to economic growth, innovation, and job creation.

Many businesses continue to struggle to expand due to financial constraints, while limited support from financial institutions and the absence of a development bank make it difficult for start-ups and small businesses to access loans.

In response, BIP introduces a business-expansion pitching initiative aimed at supporting active micro and small enterprises owned by individuals aged 21–59 who may not qualify for traditional business competitions or formal financing opportunities.

The initiative will provide small grants with flexible and achievable requirements, allowing entrepreneurs to explain their business challenges and demonstrate how funding support can improve and grow their operations.

The Business Idea Pitching (BIP) initiative will be open to Basotho-owned businesses operating within the four priority sectors identified in the National Strategic Development Plan:

🌱 Agriculture
🏭 Manufacturing
🎭 Tourism & Creative Industries
😁Technology and Renewable Energy

Participation will be open to qualifying business owners from all ten districts of Lesotho, ensuring nationwide inclusivity and opportunities for entrepreneurs across the country. Stay tuned for more details.

Supported by Myloan Limited, Petroleum Fund and Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation - BEDCO

URBAN OCTOBER 2025 | NATIONAL DIALOGUE

Theme: Inclusive and Sustainable Urban Environments in Lesotho – Towards National Urban Policy Development
πŸ“… Date: 16th October 2025
πŸ“ Venue: β€˜Manthabiseng Convention Centre, Maseru

The Lesotho Federation of the Informal Traders Associations (LEFITA) will proudly participate in the panel discussions during the Urban October 2025 National Dialogue, advocating for β€” Decent Work and Economic Growth. StreetNet , United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, European Union in Lesotho

Our Negotiation Team will contribute to the conversation under the National Urban Policy development framework, focusing on inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities that support informal traders, MSMEs, and marginalized communities.

We will engage in discussions around these key questions:

1️⃣ How can the housing sector be developed in an inclusive, safe, and sustainable way to meet the needs of the growing urban population?
2️⃣ How can cities build resilient infrastructureβ€”such as parks, wetlands, and green roofsβ€”to mitigate the impacts of climate change?
3️⃣ How can urban planning contribute to economic development and job creation?

As LEFITA, we continue to advocate for policies that promote decent livelihoods, empower women and youth, and integrate informal traders into the national development agenda.

Let’s localize the and build the β€” together for a better Lesotho! πŸ’ͺ
