Today, we ain't just celebrating our Department President, but a remarkable woman whose love, dedication, and hard work continue to inspire us all. Madam President (Rukie Morris), thank you for being the person you are. Thank you for your sacrifices, your leadership, your patience, and the countless ways you continue to serve and support our department. You have played the role of a mother, an elderly sister, a mentor, and a true leader to many of us. Your presence makes a difference, and we are genuinely blessed to have you.

We thank Almighty God for the gift of your life, for bringing you into our department 😊, and for giving you the strength and wisdom to lead us. To those who were not selected, please do not be discouraged. Not being selected does not define your ability, potential, or future success. This particular opportunity had limited slots, and unfortunately, not every deserving applicant could be accommodated. We encourage you to keep your focus, remain active, and continue participating in departmental activities. More opportunities will come.

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF INTEREST TO CONTEST FOR THE POSITION OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY

Greetings, esteemed and distinguished students of the African Methodist Episcopal University.

I am Varlee Marlee Konneh, a senior student in the Banking and Finance Department of the Business College.

It is an honor to formally announce my intention to contest for the position of Financial Secretary of the Senior Class in the 2026/2027 Students' Election.

I believe there is more to being a Financial Secretary than simply keeping records. A Financial Secretary is a strategist who provides creative avenues for generating funds and ensures that the leadership remains financially stable and capable of funding its projects.

Currently, I serve as the Vice President of the Banking and Finance Department and the Assistant Financial Secretary of the 26th Junior Class at AME University. Serving in these positions, I have been part of a team of strategists that develops innovative ways to raise funds and successfully implement leadership initiatives.

Therefore, I bring to this office a combination of organizational experience, financial literacy, and an uncompromising commitment to ethical service.

PLATFORM

My vision for this office rests firmly on three foundational pillars:

SUBJECT: BANKING & FINANCE DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

To our dearest BAFI students, your Leadership is pleased to announce six (6) scholarship slots available exclusively for students within the department.

4 Slots for Financial Aid, which is awarded based on students’ financial needs and circumstances.

And 2 Slots Academic Excellence, this awarded to students with the highest qualifying GPA.

(Each scholarship covers six (6) credit hours per student/slot).

How to Apply
- Financial Aid: Submit a formal letter explaining your financial situation to any of the designated leadership members or the Department Office.
- GPA Based: Submit your recent academic grades showing your GPA to the designated leadership members or the Department Office.

Students who wish to benefit are encouraged to submit their applications/documents formally from August 15, 2026 to August 26, 2026 (next week Wednesday)..

Additionally, the Department is pleased to support the Business College with four (4) additional scholarship slots, demonstrating our commitment to contributing beyond our department.
This initiative is more than just a scholarship it is a reflection of the commitment made by the BAFISA Leadership to stand with our students and turn our promises into meaningful action.
We promised to be there for our students, and this is one of the steps we are taking to prove it.
We may be starting small, but understand we are starting with purpose.

A sister in need of our prayers and support 🤍

We are deeply saddened by the condition of our sister, Amelia Diamond Chenoweth, who is currently fighting for her life after a tragic accident. In moments like this, words may fail, but compassion and unity speak louder.
I encourage we stand together as one family, lift her up in prayer, support and stand with loved during this painful time. Every prayer counts, every support matters.

May Allah show her mercy, ease her pain, and grant her complete healing. May He give strength to her family in this difficult time and bring her back to health stronger than before.
