Friends, emotions aside. Here is the straight talk:

The National Government and Nairobi County Government signed a cooperation deal (Feb 2026), only aimed at pumping money and technical support into fixing Nairobi.
The joint programme is worth KES 80 billion to upgrade Nairobi. Nairobi is too important nationally to fail; it’s the capital and economic engine of Kenya yet the current financial allocations cannot fully fix its growing needs.

NOTE
- The deal is NOT like what used to be NMS
- It is NOT a takeover of Nairobi County Government
- The Governor is still in charge of Nairobi
- A joint steering committee will oversee implementation
