Customer Support: The Heart of Every Successful Business

Customer support has evolved far beyond answering phone calls or responding to emails. Today, it is one of the most powerful drivers of customer loyalty, business growth, and brand reputation. In a competitive marketplace where customers have countless choices, the quality of support they receive often determines whether they stay, recommend your business, or move to a competitor.

Every interaction matters. Whether you're resolving a complex issue, answering a simple question, onboarding a new customer, or guiding someone through a product or service, each conversation is an opportunity to create a positive experience and build lasting trust. Great customer support isn't just about solving problemsโ€”it's about making customers feel heard, valued, and confident in your business.

Technology has transformed the way we serve customers. CRM platforms, AI-powered automation, analytics, and omnichannel communication enable businesses to respond faster, streamline workflows, and deliver more personalized experiences. These tools improve efficiency, reduce response times, and help support teams focus on what matters most.

However, while technology continues to evolve, it can never replace the qualities that define exceptional service: empathy, active listening, patience, professionalism, and genuine human connection. Customers remember how they were treated long after the issue has been resolved.

Exceptional customer support is built on:

๐Ÿ’ฌ Fast and responsive communication that respects customers' time.

๐Ÿค Personalized experiences that make every customer feel understood.

โšก Smart automation that empowers support teams without removing the human touch.

โค๏ธ Long-term relationships built on trust, consistency, and reliability.

The most successful businesses understand that customer support is not a cost centerโ€”it's a strategic investment.

๐Ÿ“ˆ A New Chapter Begins at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)

Leadership transitions shape institutions, and today marks an important milestone for Kenya's capital markets.

Tom Mulwa has been appointed the new Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), effective 13th July 2026, succeeding Kiprono Kittony, who concludes a remarkable six-year tenure.

Mr. Mulwa brings over 30 years of experience in financial services, investment, insurance, and corporate governance. His leadership comes at a time when the NSE is focused on:
โœ… Deepening Kenya's capital markets.
โœ… Expanding retail investor participation.
โœ… Introducing innovative investment products.
โœ… Strengthening Kenya's position as a leading investment destination in Africa.

As we welcome the new Chairman, it is also fitting to recognize the legacy of Kiprono Kittony. Under his stewardship, the NSE achieved significant milestones, including:

๐Ÿ”น Ending an 11-year IPO drought with the successful listings of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) and Family Bank.
๐Ÿ”น Introducing single-share trading, making investing more accessible to ordinary Kenyans.
๐Ÿ”น Launching the Zidi Trader M-Pesa platform, which has brought thousands of first-time investors into the market.
๐Ÿ”น Leading initiatives that saw the NSE ranked among Africa's top-performing stock exchanges.

Leadership is not only about maintaining momentumโ€”it's about building on past achievements to unlock new opportunities.

Congratulations to Tom Mulwa on your appointment, and thank you, Kiprono Kittony, for your distinguished service and lasting contribution to Kenya's capital markets.

The future of investing in Kenya continues to look promising.

What do you think should be the NSE's next priority under the new leadership? Share your thoughts below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

THE TREE DOESN'T LOOK IMPRESSIVE AT FIRST ๐ŸŒณ

The picture is not really about trees. It's about time.

Everyone admires the 10-year result.

The fruit. The size. The success.

The recognition. The harvest.

But very few people are willing to live through the first two years.

The years when growth is almost invisible.

The years when nobody notices your effort.

The years when people question your progress.

The years when it feels like nothing is happening.

Yet a tree spends years developing roots before it produces fruit.

And that's exactly how meaningful growth works.

A business may take years before it becomes profitable.

A career may take years before opportunities begin to appear.

A skill may take years before mastery becomes visible.

A dream may take years before others call it a success.

The mistake many people make is comparing their Year 2 to someone else's Year 10.

They see the fruit but never the seasons of patience.

They admire the outcome but ignore the process.

And so they quitโ€”not because they are failing, but because growth is happening slower than expected.

What they don't realize is that slow growth is often strong growth.

Things built overnight can disappear overnight.

Things built patiently over years tend to endure.

The strongest trees are not always the fastest-growing ones.

They are the trees that survived storms, droughts, seasons, and time.

Success works the same way.

Every small action.

Every lesson learned.

Every setback overcome.

Every day you choose not to quit.

Those are roots.

And roots always come before fruit.

So do not confuse slow progress with no progress.

The most valuable things in life often take the longest to grow.

Stay faithful. Stay consistent. Stay patient.

The tree that looks small today may become the one providing shade, fruit, and value for decades tomorrow.

INVESTOR'S MIND

Family Bank charges for inward EFT credits....on normal accounts.

Family Bank charges on dividends EFT 2026:

1. Inward EFT fee: 100 KES + 16% VAT = 116 KES per credit

Thatโ€™s why you see โ€œabove 100 KESโ€ when Safaricom/KCB etc pay you dividends.

2. Reason

Family Bank treats dividends like โ€œforeign/local EFTโ€ not โ€œsalaryโ€. Salary accounts are free, but normal savings/current accounts get charged.

3. Ledger fee

150 KES/month on top, separate from this.

Why Equity/KCB charge 0 KES but Family charges 116 KES?

Banks make their own rules. Equity + KCB waived it to attract deposits. Family Bank still uses it as revenue. It hits hardest when you get many small dividends. 5 companies = 5 x 116 = 580 KES gone.

1. Open โ€œGroup/Chama accountโ€ at Family Bank

: Ask for waiver. Some branches remove inward EFT fee for chama accounts if you negotiate. Bring your KRA PIN + constitution.

2. Use Family Bank salary account type

: Even for chamas. If you tell them โ€œthis is for investment income/dividendsโ€, some branches code it as salary account = 0 KES.

3. Switch receiving bank

Move CDS dividend mandate to Equity, KCB, or Co-op. Those 3 charge 0 KES for inward EFT. You only pay once to change mandate at CDS.

Math pain

Get 19,000 KES dividend โ†’ KRA takes 1,000 KES WHT โ†’ Family Bank takes 116 KES โ†’ You get 17,884 KES. That 116 is 0.6% of your money gone to bank.

Since youโ€™ve seen 2 chamas collapse due to โ€œsmall leakagesโ€, this is exactly the kind of leakage that kills morale.

Which account type do you have at Family Bank now? Normal savings or chama/group account? I can draft the exact request letter to ask them to waive the 116 KES if you want.

For salary paid via EFT to your bank account in Kenya, banks usually donโ€™t deduct a โ€œreceiving salary feeโ€

The deductions are mainly government + optional fees. Hereโ€™s the breakdown:

1. Mandatory deductions - Not by bank

These come off before salary even hits bank:

1. PAYE Tax....KRA. 10% to 30% dependi

๐Ÿ’ฐ KEEP GOING โ€” IT STARTS SLOW, THEN CHANGES EVERYTHING ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Everything feels difficult at the beginning. Confusing. Uncertain. Even impossible.

But that is how every real journey starts.

Once you take the first step, things begin to shift: โ€ข You learn as you move
โ€ข You gain confidence over time
โ€ข You start seeing small progress
โ€ข Then momentum builds

Wealth, investing, and financial growth are no different. The key is not having everything figured outโ€”itโ€™s starting and staying consistent.

Donโ€™t stop because it feels slow right now. Slow progress is still progress.

Keep going. Your future self will thank you ๐Ÿ’ฐ
