Everyone's talking about eTIMS reconciliation. Here's what's actually driving it.
Under the Finance Act 2026, KRA can now originate tax assessments independently using data it already holds — e-TIMS records, withholding filings, third-party data — without waiting for you to file first.
Add the new pre-populated return system, and the incentive to have clean, reconciled data before year-end has genuinely shifted.
✅ Getting ahead of eTIMS integration and payroll/P9 reconciliation before the accelerated 30 April individual deadline is smart, not just good hygiene.
⚠️ A few things to keep in mind:
How much KRA will actually pre-fill still depends on regulations not yet issued.
Reviewing pre-populated data stays your legal responsibility — the system doesn't do it for you.
Companies have until 30 June, not April — the urgency isn't the same for everyone.
Earlier reconciliation cycles mean real costs, especially for smaller employers.
Bottom line: get ahead of your data, but know what's confirmed versus what's still pending.
