Have you ever made a mistake that seemed devastating at first, only to discover that it led to something amazing? I have, and it's a lesson that has stayed with me to this day. In this eBook, I want to share a personal story that illustrates the transformative power of mistakes. This story has been a driving force behind my desire to write this book, "From Mistake to Mastery."

It was around 1998 when I took a music trainee to a studio in Jos city for her album production. During the instrumentation process, an error occurred, which we only noticed during the voice-over session. My initial reaction was to complain, but the music programmer, Mr. Bitrus Bature, stopped me. He said something that has stayed with me to this day: "McDimar, Any mistake in music is a style." At first, I was taken aback, but as I reflected on his words, I began to see the wisdom in them. As we continued with the voice-over, the lady accidentally did a lip sync, which ended up becoming the most beautiful part of the track. It was a turning point for me. I realized that mistakes can be valuable and even lead to something remarkable.

Take Michael Faraday, for example. He is credited with inventing the first practical electrical generator, but did you know that he failed numerous times before achieving success? In fact, he is famously quoted as saying, "I have far more confidence in the one man who works mentally and bodily at a matter than in the six who agitate about it – that one man is sure to carry out his purpose." Or consider Thomas Edison, who is said to have failed over 1,000 times before inventing the light bulb. When asked about his failures, he replied, "I have not failed. I've just found 1,000 ways that won't work." These individuals, and many more like them, are testaments to the fact that mistakes are an inevitable part of the journey to success. But it's how we respond to those mistakes that matters. So, don't be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake. Instead, remember that you are in good company, and that every mistake brings you closer to mastery.

DO YOU USE YOUR TIME WISELY?
It is prudent to invest your money wisely. However, if you do lose some money, it’s not the end of the world. You can always learn from your mistakes, carefully examine your options, and hopefully recoup your losses in the future. With investments in material things there is always hope and optimism.

Time is also an investment. We can invest our time in many things. We can spend our time doing productive things at work, interacting with the members of our family, helping out at church with consistory work or committee work, or studying at school and at home. We can also spend our time watching TV, playing games on the computer, and going to the bar or to the casino. There are many things we can spend our time on. Each day the Lord gives us 24 hours, that is 1,440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds per day to invest.

The Lord also gives us times and seasons. There is a time and a season for every activity under the sun, the Teacher says. These times and seasons are God’s gift to us. We don’t always like that gift. Certain seasons we want to prolong, and others we want to curtail. We don’t like to be limited to certain seasons and times. We do not always like the various times and seasons of the Lord.

The question today is, do we respect those times and seasons the Lord God has set for every activity under the sun? Do we use our time wisely? Do we respect the time that God has given us under heaven?
