DNA evidence has been presented in court linking John Matara Ong’oa to the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi, the sister of Pastor Victor Kanyari.
A forensic examiner testified that a knife recovered from the scene contained blood from both the deceased and the accused. DNA from bloodstains found on the suspect’s denim shirt, towels, and other items also matched both Wahu and Ong’oa. In addition, a semen stain recovered from a condom at the scene produced a mixed DNA profile that included a match to the accused.
Prosecutors told the court that the DNA findings strongly link John Matara Ong’oa to the killing of Starlet Wahu, who was murdered at an apartment in South B, Nairobi, in January 2024.
