Charity Akita

Charity Akita is a non-profit voluntary association based in Akita Prefecture Other board positions change year to year.

Charity Akita is a charity fundraising and volunteer organization comprised of ALTs and residents of Akita who organize fundraiser events for charities, create events to welcome newcomers into Akita prefecture, and otherwise seek to work towards grassroots internationalization. Charity Akita is lead by a board of director's comprised of at least an executive director, deputy director, and director

of finance. Annually Charity Akita hosts a variety of events including the JET Welcome & Farewell Parties, Halloween Party, St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Christmas Caroling, Appi Ski Trip, Sumo Tournament, and Lake Tazawa Camping trip. This year we have a HUGE line-up of wrestlers to battle it out for the yokozuna crown 👑 It’s going to be an epic show!

Funds raised on the day and portion of the ticket cost will be donated to Food Bank Akita. Please help us support this local charity doing amazing work in the Akita community 🫶

⛱️🌊 Beach Clean Up in Yurihonjo! ☀️🌎

We will be cleaning up Iwaki-Minato beach for our annual beach clean up! Come and join us to get the beach nice and clean, and ready for summer.

We are looking for wrestlers 💪 and volunteers 🙋 to take part in the 19th International Sumo Tournament on June 27th, 2026!

No prior experience is required for either role! Please join us for a day of fun and help us raise money for Food Bank Akita 🫶

All wrestlers and volunteers will receive discounted tickets and light refreshments on the day.

Due to an influx of applications in only 4 days, we are well over capacity and have made the decision to close the application form.
