Who Is a Kashmiri?
A Kashmiri is not the echo of a slogan, nor the shadow of a political ideology. A Kashmiri is the soul shaped by the snow of Harmukh, the waters of the Jhelum, the silence of the Chinars, and the prayers whispered in every season.
Social media floods with Some celebrating the abrogation of Article 370. Others grieve its loss and long for its return. These are political choices, and history will continue to debate them. But before every opinion, there is a deeper truth—we are one people.
The greatest tragedy is not that Kashmiris think differently. The tragedy is when we stop seeing each other as brothers and sisters because of those differences.
A tree does not reject its branches because they grow in different directions. A river does not deny its streams because they flow through different valleys. Why then should Kashmir reject its own children?
The day we begin to love our arguments more than our people, we cease to be true Kashmiris.
For a Kashmiri is not measured by the flag he waves or the slogan he raises. He is measured by the compassion he shows, the dignity he preserves, and the love he carries for every soul born from this beautiful valley.
If your politics makes you hate another Kashmiri, then politics has already defeated Kashmir.
