Real Advice Defeats Financial Fraud: A 2nd Opinion Case Study 🚨
At 2nd Opinion our mission isn't just about structuring financial strategies or securing secured and unsecured funding; it’s about protecting our community from financial predators.Today, a client's domestic helper came to our office in deep distress. She had fallen into a highly sophisticated "Advance-Fee Loan Scam" where fraudsters aggressively misused the brand name and logo of Bajaj Finserv
The Trap:
Impersonating legitimate loan officers, the scammers sent a highly deceptive, fake loan sanction letter on stamp paper bearing corporate logos under her name, SHOBHA CHANDRAKANT SURVE (Ref: "SHOBHA CHANDRAKANT SURVE.pdf"). They demanded upfront "processing fees" to unlock a ₹1,00,000 loan. Desperate for the funds, she processed three tranches totaling ₹11,849 to fraudulent accounts masking under the registered banking name "META".
The Escalation:
The moment they received the money, the scammers used a spoofed SMS gateway under the header "VM-BAJAJF-S" to send fake bank text messages claiming the loan was credited but "blocked" until she paid an additional ₹17,777 for "GST charges" via a personal QR code. The 2nd Opinion Intervention:
Fortunately, before she scanned the next QR code to transfer another ₹10,000, she reached out to us. We immediately halted further payments, exposed the absolute forgery of the document, and drafted a formal complaint for the National Cyber Crime Cell and her bank. Financial literacy is our community's strongest shield. Fraudsters are heavily misusing reputable corporate names, fake headers, and logos to exploit innocent, hard-working people. Legitimate companies will NEVER ask you to pay personal upfront fees via a random WhatsApp QR code to release a loan. Before you sign any document or pay any upfront "fee," get a 2nd Opinion.
