SECULAR SPIRITUALISM
“The Sage beholdeth That mysterious Being
wherein this All hath found one only dwelling. Therein unites the Whole, and thence it issues:”
---The White Yajur Veda 32.8
The religionists of all faiths pursue the same Truth. You may not even believe in God and yet pursue the Truth.Famous Scientist Albert Einstein called it "Cosmic Religion". The Dutch Philosopher Baruch Spinoza
called it “Dius Sive Natura”-----“Nature or God”. Whether you use the name Jesus, Krishna, Allah, Buddha, or Tao—in essence you venerate the same Ultimate truth.The ancient Indian Holy Book Rigveda says “Truth is One. Sages call Him by various names”.(1.164.46) If we accept this ancient Vedic wisdom, then religious pluralism comes to us as natural as breathing Oxygen. What’s the purpose of killing in the name of religion ? or of maiming others in the name of Religion ? No spiritual leader ever asked us to injure a fellow human-being. Instead let us live and let others live healthy lives. If there is a differences of religious opinion, let us respect that difference and get going. As Sufi Saint Bawa Muhaiyaddeen wrote: “ once you divide yourself off with religions, you are separated from your fellowmen.”
The Persian Sufi mystic Jelaluddin Rumi wrote :
“I am neither Christian nor Jew,
Nor magian nor muslim. I know of nothing but Hu, none but Him…”
In the same vein Sufi mystic Mahmud Shabistari wrote :
“’I’ and ‘You’ are the veil
Between heaven and earth;
Lift this veil and you will see
No longer the bonds of sects and creeds”
Therefore we must not allow religious differences to divide us. We must all be united in a spirit of comradeship and pursue our goals. We are all share common traits and common values. Love unites us all. Let not hatred divide us. The real crusade is against corruption, violence and poverty. We all want to live peacefully and happily. Universal comradeship is the destiny of humankind.
“United be our resolve; United be our hearts; United be our spirits. May we live together in unity and brotherhood.”
—Rig Veda 10.191.4
