Is your “safe” money actually losing you money right now? 🤔
Official CPI inflation is 4.38%. Most people plan their savings around that number.
But that’s not the inflation you’re actually living through.
Look at what’s really rising:
▪️Rent: up 6-15% across major cities this year🔺
▪️Property prices: up 12-15% YoY nationally, with Bengaluru at 24.2% and Mumbai at 20%🔺
▪️Food: Consumer Food Price Index at 5.32% in June — its highest point in 2026🔺
▪️Fuel: petrol and diesel just saw their first price hike in 4 years — nearly ₹7.5/litre added since May🔺
Now compare that to SBI’s savings account rate: 2.5% p.a.🔻
The official number says you’re losing 2% a year in real terms. Your actual expenses say the number is much worse.
The uncomfortable truth: budgeting against headline CPI while your rent, EMI, and grocery bill move at double or triple that pace is how “safe” savers fall behind without noticing.
Are you tracking your own inflation rate, or just the one in the news?
If you’re not sure your money is actually keeping up, let’s find out together — drop a comment or DM me “INFLATION” and I’ll walk you through how to check.
