ikPunjabi Mela is an annual, open air, alcohol-free family event that promises to provide a festive, cordial, inviting, inclusive an fun environment for all joining. It is anxiously awaited and ...deeply cherished by the Punjabi community of the mid Atlantic region of the USA. It seeks to build on the humbling success bestowed from the very first Punjabi Mela in 2010 that had the honor of hosting
more than 8000 guests. Punjabi's of Washington DC Metropolitan area have savored the nostalgia from the last several year’s and are supporting this year’s event with an even greater interest backing us with their full support. Hundreds of them are lending their valuable time and resources, signing up to volunteer and contributing money to make this year’s event to be a huge success. We are expecting an attendance of more than 10,000 people. The Punjabi diaspora, particularly of this area, is highly educated and has one of the highest family incomes of any ethnic group. This is an opportunity for any person or business to reach out to a large number of Punjabis to get your word out to them, to get a first hand feel for what they think or just simply to network. We will have an engaging environment with a variety of activities, both on and off the stage including singers, musicians and DJs of repute, folk and traditional dance groups with tremendous energy, vibrant colors and international flavor. To satisfy the Punjabi palate, there will be a variety of authentic Punjabi food from well-known local restaurants. We are sure that Mela 2022 will be a memorable experience for kids and families. In 2017, ikPunjabi Mela with Ranjit Bawa, Lakhwinder Wadali and Kanth Kaler shattered all attendance records and was a HUGE success! Over 12,000+ people attended, making it DC|MD|VA regions largest Punjabi event! Punjabi community members traveled from as far as PA, NJ, NY, WV, NC, DE and more! Please mark the date and plan to attend this exciting event in May, at Bull Run Special Events Center in Centreville VA, right off of Rt 66. We are confident that the investment of your time will yield an experience and fond memories that will last forever. We want to start a tradition, fairly humble and in no way uncommon in any one part, to bring together all Punjabi's in an inclusive setting to share and promote our culture. We will come together on one core aspect "Punjabi", with no demarcation by region or religion with constant inspiration from our doyens Baba Nanak, Baba Farid, Shah Hussain, Waris Shah, Amrita Preetam, Shiv Batalavi ... and all our elders.
