The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu recently said the “Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram” scheme will continue. Under this program, eligible newborns get a 1-gram, 22-carat gold ring.

Soon after, one number caught everyone’s eye:

₹0.01.

The headline suggested that a jeweller had agreed to give a gold ring for just one paisa.

But that’s not what actually happened.

The gold itself is priced separately. The ₹0.01 was the winning bid for the extra costs of making and delivering the ring.

But this leads to a more interesting business question:

How can a big jeweller offer ₹0.01 when the next bidder quoted ₹410.97?

There were 11 bidders in the tender.

* Joyalukkas: ₹0.01 (L1)
* GRT Jewellers — ₹410.97 (L2)

That’s a difference of ₹410.96 for each ring.

The scheme covers 4,41,667 one-gram rings, with an annual budget of ₹755.83 crore.

There’s another twist. Kalyan Jewellers got 30% of the order, even though GRT was L2.

So what’s really going on behind that ₹0.01 headline?

In this edition of Njord Insights, we look past the headline and explore the economics behind the tender.

Because the real story isn’t the ₹0.01. It’s the economics behind it.

Two significant Union Budgets.
Separated by thirty-five years.
Representing a remarkable economic transformation.

In 1991, India implemented economic reforms to address a severe financial crisis.

In 2026, the emphasis is on strengthening infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology to promote long-term economic growth.

This video examines the evolution of India's economic priorities over the past several decades.

Which of these Budgets has had a greater long-term impact on India's economy?

What if the greatest investment wasn’t money but people?

When we hear investment, we usually think of stocks, mutual funds, or real estate.

But K. Kamaraj reminds us that the most powerful investments are often the ones made in education, opportunity, and human potential.

By expanding access to education, encouraging technical learning, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting industrial growth, he created an ecosystem that still benefits Tamil Nadu today.

Decades later, the impact remains visible in classrooms, factories, businesses, and the lives of millions.

Swipe through this carousel to discover why we believe Kamaraj’s greatest legacy wasn’t a project or a policy—it was the future he helped build.

Happy Birth Anniversary, Perunthalaivar K. Kamaraj.

Returning to one’s alma mater is a meaningful experience.

Our Managing Director, Mr. Prasathraj R, recently visited SKSS Arts College in Thiruppanandal to address students on the following topics:

Capital Markets: Discipline vs Speculation

The session aimed to help students learn about:

🔸 The difference between investing and trading

🔸 Why discipline matters more than predictions

🔸The power of starting early and staying consistent

🔸How financial literacy can shape better life decisions

Engaging with hundreds of students at the college that shaped his own journey made this event especially meaningful.

We thank the management, faculty, and students of SKSS Arts College for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation.

At Njord Asset Services Private Limited, we believe financial education should begin early to empower the next generation to build wealth through knowledge and discipline.

Most people think IPL is a cricket tournament.

But investors see a masterclass in business.

No factories.
No oil fields.
No manufacturing plants.

Yet IPL franchise valuations keep climbing.

Why?

Because the real assets are:

✓ Attention
✓ Brand loyalty
✓ Network effects
✓ Future earnings
✓ Multiple revenue streams

These are the same factors that separate ordinary businesses from extraordinary ones.

Watch till the end for the one question every investor should ask.

"What makes this business difficult to replace tomorrow?"

Save this for later and share it with someone who loves cricket and investing.

India spends billions each year on oil, electronics, and gold imports.

But not all imports come with the same currency. Some currencies have gained over 20% against the Indian Rupee in just one year.

This leads to:
• Higher import costs
• Inflation pressure
• Rising pricing risks for businesses

And surprisingly enough,

Gold imports seem more exposed to currency risks than electronics imports.

Read on to see how global currencies quietly shape India’s economy.

India’s democratic journey has seen both strength and strain.

The Emergency in India (1975–1977) remains a significant chapter in our history, marked by suspended civil liberties, press restrictions, and a temporary shift in institutional power.

It underscored an important reality:
Institutions are only as strong as their enforcement.

In the years that followed, efforts were made to reinforce the credibility and independence of electoral processes.

A key turning point came with T. N. Seshan, who strengthened the Election Commission of India by ensuring existing rules were enforced with greater rigour and consistency.

His approach contributed to:

* Greater accountability in election conduct
* Improved voter identification systems
* Stronger oversight of campaign practices
* Enhanced institutional authority

Although challenges in electoral processes continue to evolve, this period marked a shift toward higher standards of transparency and discipline.

As highlighted in this carousel, meaningful change often results not only from new policies but also from consistent enforcement of existing ones.

Are you feeling cold or burning up?

When you check the Nifty 50 average for 2025-2026, it seems like a calm year, with growth at just 4.48%.

In investing, averages can be misleading. If half the room is burning and the other half is freezing, the average temperature looks normal, but it does not tell the whole story.

Underneath that calm average, the Indian market was full of ups and downs.

* If you invested in Metals or Autos, you saw big gains. Those sectors grew by 30.23% and 20.57%.
* But if your portfolio focused on IT, it was a tough year, with the sector shrinking by 16.13%.

The global markets were just as unpredictable. The US lowered interest rates and its tech sector jumped. Japan raised rates, but its market still climbed more than 43%. This shows that economies do not always follow the rules we expect.

You do not have to guess every twist and turn. What matters is having a strong plan that goes beyond the averages and focuses on what is really happening.

Let’s sit down together and discuss what this could mean for your investments. Contact us Today!
